As a luxury travel advisor, I’m constantly scouting new properties that offer something special—charm, character, and that magical “this is exactly where I want to be” feeling. During recent training, I was able to learn about a dozen boutique hotels that truly deliver, whether you’re craving a chic city escape or a romantic countryside retreat. Here’s a round-up of twelve favorites, from Manhattan to the Maldives. Note that now you can book directly through the links below (you’ll need to create a Virtuoso account) and receive amenities if you select the Virtuoso rate. 1. Lotte New York Palace – New York, NY

I’ve stayed here a few times—including just the other week for a girls’ getaway to see George Clooney star in Good Night and Good Luck (highly recommend!). It’s a relative bargain for New York luxury and has the rare advantage of offering double-bedded rooms. The location is prime: Midtown, but not too close to the Times Square chaos. I fly into Newark, hop on NJ Transit to Penn Station, and walk from there if the weather allows. Inside, the hotel is elegant with a grand staircase that sets the tone.

2. Soho Grand Hotel – New York, NY

Downtown cool with Gilded Age glam. Think vintage vibes and velvet touches. This spot knows how to have fun—case in point: their “Happy Meal” is a dirty martini and fries. Super pet-friendly too (they’ll take anything short of a horse). I recommend the terrace suite with up to 400 sq ft of outdoor space…yes, in Manhattan!

3. Il Salviatino – Florence, Italy

A swoon-worthy villa nestled in the Tuscan hills, just minutes from Florence. This property is a dream for destination weddings with activities like “Cashmere & Coffee,” hot air balloon rides, and truffle hunting. A buyout here would be unforgettable.

4. Joali Being – Maldives

The Maldives’ first well-being island—and it’s redefining wellness travel. Joali Being offers transformational stays rooted in nature, movement, mindfulness, and nourishment. It’s a serene sanctuary for travelers who want to truly disconnect and reset.

5. Villa e Palazzo Aminta – Lake Maggiore, Italy

Set in Northern Italy, not far from Lake Como, this hotel offers a romantic, slightly off-the-beaten-path escape. You get the beauty of the region without the crowds. Rooms are a mix of traditional Italian and more modern style, and it’s another stunning spot for a wedding or romantic getaway.

6. The Chanler at Cliff Walk – Newport, RI

Newport is pure East Coast charm, and this is the only hotel on the famed Cliff Walk. Each room is uniquely designed, and the staff works directly with advisors to find the perfect fit for guests. Tour Gilded Age mansions like The Breakers (they’ll even arrange private viewings), bike along the coast, or set sail on a boat cruise with a picnic lunch. Don’t miss dinner at their new French-inspired restaurant, Remy’s Loose.

7. Monaci delle Terre Nere – Sicily, Italy

A rustic-chic Relais & Châteaux estate with vineyards, sea views, and 27 independent villas. This is a fantastic base for exploring Sicily—on horseback, with the kids, or glass of wine in hand. A fun fact: the estate was featured in the first Godfather movie!

8. Kristiania Lech – Lech, Austria

For ski lovers, this 29-room hideaway is packed with personality. Each room is unique, and they offer quirky amenities like a book butler, spa butler, and dog butler. Enjoy à la carte breakfasts, snowy picnics, and outdoor movies with cozy blankets by the fire.

9. XV Beacon – Boston, MA

Located in historic Beacon Hill, right across from Boston Common, this hotel has a 95% return guest rate. That says it all. Rooms are elegant with antique touches, and a sleek house Audi can take you around town. Dogs are welcome, and Mooo, the onsite steakhouse, is one of Boston’s best—book early! Don’t miss the guest-only seasonal rooftop deck.

10. Sina Centurion Palace – Venice, Italy

This sleek boutique hotel is just a 20-minute walk from St. Mark’s Square and sits right on the Grand Canal with its own private pier. The design blends contemporary and classic Italian, and the location makes it easy to arrive in style—direct from the airport by boat taxi.

11. Inns of Aurora – Finger Lakes, NY

A collection of charming inns—including E.B. Morgan House and Zabriskie House—set in New York’s Finger Lakes region. Enjoy wine tastings via shuttle, complimentary kayaks, and full culinary programming. It’s the perfect lake escape for couples or small groups looking for something unique and relaxing.

12. Zero George Street – Charleston, SC

Tucked into a quiet corner of historic Charleston, this 16-room hotel is a mix of five restored 19th-century homes. It’s on the Condé Nast Gold List and offers cooking classes three times a week. The nine-course tasting menu at the onsite restaurant is a must. Southern charm, refined.

Whether you’re seeking culture, cuisine, or just a cozy spot to rest in style, each of these boutique hotels has something distinctive to offer. When you’re ready to plan your next trip, Rosedale Travel can help you match the right property to your personal travel style.
