Certified Tauck Advisor

Rosedale Travel is a Certified Tauck Advisor, one of fewer than 60 advisors worldwide to complete Tauck Academy and ROAM by Tauck certification. That credential gets new-to-Tauck clients a complimentary pre- or post-cruise hotel night, a perk Tauck does not offer if you call them directly.

We are based in Austin and work with clients across the country by phone and email. We book Tauck because we believe in it, and we will tell you plainly if another line is actually the better fit for how you travel.

I recently had the experience of my daughter’s high school graduation trip to Croatia planned by Rachel Baumgartner. It was amazing!! We had another family along with us and Rachel took so much time learning what was important to us, researching extensively the best fit for us regarding hotels, transfers, restaurants, excursions and more! The entire trip was seamless!! And during the trip she checked in on us and was quick to respond with any questions we had. I highly recommend Rachel and Rosedale Travel!!!

Laura Spagnolo recently (fall 2025) planned an absolutely unforgettable group trip to Argentina. I travel frequently and this is the first trip I did not have to do or think about a single piece of the itinerary. I took my 12 yr old son, along with a few other families, on a planned group trip to Buenos Aires and iguazu falls. Starting with the preparation for the visit and Everything from city excursions, to soccer matches and stadium tours, to art centers, dinners out, fantastic hotels, experiencing the falls, and the ease with transfers and domestic flights ...it could NOT have been better. I will not plan trips without Rosedale travel from now on!! Thank you!

Rosedale travel was able to hook me up with a last minute excellent trip to Iceland. Kirsten worked with me to make sure everything we wanted to do got done, and even suggested some things I’d never heard of which I'm glad we did! I’ll be using Rosedale travel again in the near future!

Five stars aren't enough for Rachel! She delivered the most amazing and stress-free adventure for our son's 30th birthday trip to Moab! She helped with flights and booked a fantastic place to stay, but the lineup of incredible adventures she put together was the highlight. Our adventure loving son had a blast! Before we left, a physical folder with all our documents was delivered, and every detail was also available on a convenient app. Rachel was available for all our questions during planning and checked in with us during and after our trip! I will be using her services again and recommending her to everyone I know.

Not only is Rachel Baumgartner the best travel advisor I've ever had the pleasure of working with, but she is also one of the best individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working with. From start to finish, there is not a single thing she missed. She went above and beyond on everything possible and exceeded my expectations. She helped me plan my bachelorette, my fiance's bachelor party, and our honeymoon. I cannot recommend Rachel enough to anyone looking to plan travel. I am forever grateful to her for helping me to plan the trip of my dreams!

Kirsten at Rosedale planned our family trip to Greece. It was our first time using a travel agent but definitely won't be our last! Kirsten made the trip to easy and stress free! She listened to all our "wants" and built the perfect vacation for our family of 5. The excursions she booked were amazing - both were great companies to explore Greece with and we learned so much from our guides. The hotels and resorts she booked for us were beautiful properites and the extra perks (like welcome baskets and food vouchers) that we got from booking with Kirsten were a wonderful bonus! Don't hesitate to use Kirsten to design your next vacation - you will be so glad you did!

Kirstin was amazing! My sister and I had 17 tabs open trying to figure out connecting flights and/or trains in Europe to no avail! I reached out to her for the first time hoping that she could somehow solve this mystery and she did just that! She made it all work seamlessly. Going forward, I will never NOT travel without first consulting her. She had tips, ideas, suggestions, and solutions! She was easy to communicate with, affable, responsive to our desires and vision and followed through on everything she said. She asked for feedback afterwards, and I shared the one thing I wished had happened. I wish we had gotten the itinerary in paper prior to departure. She and I miscommunicated about that as I had handled all stateside flights prior to international flights so she didn't know our actual date of departure. Highly recommend.

KIrsten Billhardt of Rosedale Travel did a fabulous job of planning and organizing our first trip to Scandinavia; she even figured out a way to work in a side trip to northern Germany within a 11-day (including flights) timeframe! It's been five months since we went, and we're still raving about the variety of experiences including outdoor excursions, city explorations, historical site and special attraction visits, different transportation modes, and delicious food (we loved the huge hotel breakfast buffets). We highly recommend working with Kirsten!

Rosedale knows the secret sauce of memorable travel.

What a Certified Tauck Advisor Actually Does

“Certified Tauck Advisor” is not a badge we put on the website because it sounds good. It means completing Tauck Academy, a training program covering Tauck’s fleet, itineraries, service standards, and Tauck Exclusive events in depth, plus ROAM by Tauck certification. Advisors who finish the program are recognized by Tauck directly and listed in Tauck’s own advisor directory.

In practice, it means we know which ships sail which itineraries, how a Tauck Director’s role differs from a standard local guide, which Tauck Exclusive events run on which sailings, and exactly how the all-inclusive pricing compares to Viking, AmaWaterways, and Avalon, line by line. Ask us a specific Tauck question and you get a specific answer, not a guess and not a brochure reprint.

The Tauck Advisor Perk You Cannot Get Booking Direct

We offer st. This is not a discount or a promotion. It is an advisor-only benefit, unavailable through Tauck’s own booking line and unavailable through a non-certified agency.

A pre-cruise hotel night in Vienna, Budapest, or Amsterdam at a quality property runs $200 to $500 or more on its own. Through Rosedale Travel, it is included at no cost as part of your Tauck booking.

Rosedale Travel is also a Virtuoso partner, and as a Virtuoso member agency we layer additional amenities on top of the hotel night benefit where they apply: onboard credit, a hosted cocktail reception, and priority service from the crew on qualifying sailings. None of this exists when you book directly. It exists because of who books it.

Night at Miraval

Why Tauck river cruises are different from every other line

We represent Viking, AmaWaterways, Avalon, and Riverside too, and we book and recommend all of them honestly. Tauck still sits in its own category, and the difference is worth understanding before you decide.

Truly all-inclusive pricing

When Tauck says all-inclusive, they mean it. The fare covers accommodation, all meals, all beverages throughout the day (not just wine with dinner), all shore excursions with no optional upgrades to purchase, all gratuities for onboard staff and local guides, and – uniquely – Tauck Exclusive events. Other lines use ‘all-inclusive’ loosely. Tauck uses it literally.

Lower guest-to-staff ratio

Tauck ships carry fewer guests than comparable vessels on other lines. That matters in practice: shorter queues at meals, more attentive service, faster shore excursion departures, and a quieter atmosphere onboard, with more space, comfort, and personalized attention throughout your journey.

Tauck Directors – not guides

Tauck employs salaried Tauck Directors – highly trained, career hospitality professionals who are onboard for the entire voyage. They are not commission-based local guides rotated port by port. They know the guests, manage the schedule, troubleshoot problems before guests notice them, and lead excursions with a level of personal investment that is consistently cited in reviews as the thing guests remember most.

Tauck Exclusive events

This is Tauck’s most underappreciated differentiator. On every Tauck sailing, guests attend events that are simply unavailable to any other cruise line: private after-hours access to landmarks, exclusive dinners inside historic castles, private museum openings, local cultural performances arranged specifically for Tauck groups. These are not optional upgrades. They are included in the fare and available to every guest on the sailing.

Tauck Bridges – families done right

Most river cruise lines are adult-oriented by design. Tauck is the exception with Tauck Bridges: dedicated multigenerational sailings specifically built for families traveling with children. The itineraries include age-appropriate programming, family-friendly excursions, and thoughtful onboard touches that make the experience work for grandparents and grandchildren alike. If a family trip is the goal, Tauck Bridges is our consistent recommendation – it is the only product of its kind in river cruising.

Is Tauck the right river cruise line for you?

Tauck is exceptional. It is not for everyone – and part of what we do as your Luxury Travel Advisor is help you decide whether Tauck is the right fit or whether another line serves your priorities better.

Tauck tends to be the right choice when one or more of the following is true:

You want every detail handled and do not want to think about upgrades, add-ons, or gratuity envelopes at the end of the trip

You value exclusive access – private events, after-hours experiences, cultural moments unavailable to other cruise lines

You are traveling as a multigenerational family and want purpose-built programming for children and adults

You have cruised before and found that ‘optional’ excursions and drink packages added up to more than the headline price suggested

Choose Tauck or Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection for highest staff attention without ultra-boutique lines like Belmond.

Tauck may not be the best fit if you are primarily motivated by price, if you want maximum active programming (AmaWaterways and Backroads with AmaWaterways lead here), or if you prefer a more independent, flexible experience ashore.

We will tell you honestly which way the recommendation goes after our first conversation.

How We Work With You, From First Call to Booking

It starts with a 30-minute call. We want to understand why Tauck, what you have cruised before, how your travel companions like to spend a day, and what your budget actually looks like. Within a week, we come back with a specific recommendation: ship, itinerary, cabin category, and a starting point on travel insurance.

Once you book, we do not disappear. We track when dining reservations open, when excursion booking windows open, and when final payment is due, and we flag each one before it becomes a problem. We build out flights, pre- and post-cruise hotels, and any visa requirements around your sailing. And we are reachable while you are traveling if something goes sideways, a delay, a missed connection, a question at 6am in a city where you do not speak the language.

Frequently asked questions about Tauck river cruises

How much does a Tauck river cruise cost?

Tauck sits in the luxury tier of river cruising, typically running $900 to $1,400 per person per day for European itineraries. A 7 to 8 night sailing for two starts at approximately $6,000 to $9,000 per person before flights and extensions. The all-inclusive nature of the fare – excursions, gratuities, Tauck Exclusive events, open bar – means the comparison to other lines is not always apples to apples. When you add up what those components cost separately on a mid-range line, Tauck’s value case becomes considerably stronger.

Can I book Tauck directly, or do I need an advisor?

You can book Tauck directly, but you will not receive the complimentary pre- or post-cruise hotel night, Virtuoso amenities, or the advisory service that comes with booking through Rosedale Travel. Tauck’s own team is knowledgeable and helpful – but they can only offer Tauck products. We can compare Tauck against every other line we sell and recommend honestly. If Tauck is the right fit, we book it with perks you cannot get elsewhere. If another line is a better match, we tell you that too.

What is Tauck Bridges and how is it different?

Tauck Bridges is Tauck’s dedicated multigenerational program – river cruise sailings specifically designed for families traveling with children from approximately age 7 and up. The itineraries are adjusted to include family-friendly excursions, age-appropriate onboard programming, and activities that work for mixed-age groups. The standard Tauck sailings do not exclude children but are not designed with them in mind. If your trip involves grandchildren, nieces and nephews, or a multi-generation group, Bridges sailings are the product to consider.

How far in advance should I book a Tauck river cruise?

9 to 12 months is a comfortable window for most Tauck sailings and gives access to the best cabin categories. Christmas market sailings and Tauck Bridges departures book significantly earlier – 12 to 18 months is realistic for popular dates. Tauck’s suite cabins and premium categories are the first to sell out. If a specific sailing is on your radar, the time to start the conversation is now.

Does Tauck include flights?

No. Flights are not included in the Tauck fare. This is one of the first things we work through after confirming a Tauck booking – routing, airlines, whether business class makes sense for the journey, and timing around embarkation. We recommend arriving at least one day before the cruise departs to allow for any delays and to arrive rested.
