Amangiri Wellness Travel Advisor

Amangiri is best suited to travelers who want privacy, silence, and complete freedom over how they spend their days. It is not a highly programmed wellness retreat with a full class calendar, clinical testing, or a sequence of required consultations.

The main resort has 34 suites across 900 acres of the Colorado Plateau, while nearby Camp Sarika offers 10 private tented pavilions. Wellness here comes through the landscape, the Aman Spa, unhurried movement, outdoor exploration, and the absence of pressure to follow a schedule.

That distinction is important. Many travelers are drawn to Amangiri’s desert setting but expect an experience closer to Miraval, Canyon Ranch, or SHA Wellness. As a wellness travel advisor, we help determine whether the quieter, less structured model is right for your goals before you commit to the cost.

We also help you make the two decisions that shape the entire stay: whether to choose the main resort or Camp Sarika, and which activities should be reserved before arrival.

What Our Customers Say About Us

Rosedale Travel is a full service, luxury travel planning company specializing in Europe, Luxury Cruising, and Adventure Travel.

Is Amangiri Right for You?

Amangiri works particularly well when the goal is nervous-system recovery, privacy, or time away from a heavily scheduled life.

It may be a strong fit if you want:

  • Quiet and open days rather than a packed class calendar
  • Burnout recovery through remoteness, landscape, and slower pacing
  • A private honeymoon, anniversary, or milestone trip
  • A combination of spa time and outdoor experiences
  • Reflection without a built-in social programme
  • Flexibility to schedule as much or as little as you choose
  • A wellness-focused stay that does not feel clinical
  • Guidance choosing between the main resort and Camp Sarika

A guest can arrange yoga, meditation, sound work, spa treatments, hiking, Via Ferrata, horseback riding, or excursions on Lake Powell. They can also choose to spend most of the stay by the pool or in the spa without feeling that they are missing a required part of the programme.

That flexibility is one of Amangiri’s strongest qualities, but it can also be the reason the resort is wrong for someone who wants more direction.

Who Should Consider Another Wellness Resort?

Amangiri is not designed to meet every wellness goal. We would normally recommend another property in the following situations.

You want clinical testing or measurable health data

Amangiri does not offer physician-led diagnostics, extensive biomarker testing, or a longevity protocol. Canyon Ranch Tucson or SHA Wellness would be more appropriate when medical oversight, testing, or measurable health outcomes are central to the trip.

You want a dense daily schedule

Programming at Amangiri is intentionally light and arranged around personal requests. Travelers who want dozens of classes, workshops, and scheduled activities available every day may prefer Miraval or Canyon Ranch.

You want a social wellness community

The atmosphere is private and subdued. There is little expectation that guests will meet each other through communal dining or group programmes. Rancho La Puerta is generally a stronger option for travelers who value tradition, returning guests, and a more established sense of community.

You only have two nights

Several Amangiri packages require at least three nights, and the setting benefits from time. Ojai Valley Inn may be a more practical choice for a shorter wellness escape, particularly for travelers based in the western United States.

You want a lively, cocktail-focused vacation

Alcohol is available, but the overall environment remains quiet. BodyHoliday may suit travelers who want wellness during the day with more social energy, included drinks, and evening activity.

We will tell you directly when another resort is more likely to deliver the experience you want.

Why Book Amangiri Through Rosedale Travel?

Amangiri is a significant investment, and the advisor’s role should go beyond placing a room reservation.

Rosedale Travel assesses the resort against the same criteria we use across our wellness travel network. We look at the level of structure, clinical depth, privacy, social atmosphere, food, alcohol policy, minimum stay, and the type of result a guest wants from the trip.

Our planning support includes:

  • An assessment of whether Amangiri fits your goals
  • Comparison with Miraval, Canyon Ranch, SHA Wellness, COMO Shambhala Estate, and other alternatives
  • Guidance choosing the main resort or Camp Sarika
  • Suite and pavilion recommendations based on privacy, pool access, and group size
  • Planning for limited-capacity activities
  • Coordination of wellness sessions, spa time, dining, and excursions
  • Minimum-stay and seasonal timing advice
  • Preferred-partner benefits
  • Pre-arrival itinerary planning
  • Support during the stay when arrangements need to change
  • Recording preferences for future wellness travel

A client can book the right resort and still book the wrong version of the experience. At Amangiri, the main-resort-versus-Camp-Sarika decision alone can change the pace, facilities, privacy, and overall feeling of the stay.

Virtuoso Benefits at Amangiri

Rosedale Travel is a Virtuoso member agency, and Amangiri is a participating Virtuoso property.

Eligible bookings may include:

  • Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
  • Daily breakfast for up to two guests per bedroom, already included in the room rate
  • A $100 resort credit toward eligible incidentals
  • Early check-in, subject to availability
  • Late check-out, subject to availability

The resort credit excludes alcohol and boutique purchases. It cannot be applied to the room rate or combined with certain other offers.

These benefits are tied to qualifying bookings through Virtuoso-affiliated agencies. They are not provided through standard online booking channels in the same structure.

Preferred benefits are useful, but the greater value is making the right property, suite, and activity decisions before arrival.

A 30-minute call is enough for us to check live availability, confirm your Virtuoso credit, and walk through Camp Sarika against the main property for your dates.

Amangiri or Camp Sarika?

This is the most important accommodation decision for most first-time guests.

The main Amangiri resort and Camp Sarika share the same desert setting and general wellness philosophy, but they operate as distinct experiences. Camp Sarika is approximately five minutes from the main resort by resort vehicle and has its own restaurant, pool, and spa suites.

Choose the Main Amangiri Resort If You Want:

  • Access to the main Aman Spa
  • The central pool built around the natural rock escarpment
  • A wider range of suite categories
  • Easier access to the resort’s central spaces
  • Multi-room options for families or small groups
  • The Amangiri or Girjaala suites
  • A balance of privacy and connection to the main property

The main resort has 34 suites divided between the Desert Wing and Mesa Wing. Several categories include private plunge pools and terraces, but the exact category should be chosen carefully if privacy is a priority.

Choose Camp Sarika If You Want:

  • Maximum privacy
  • A private plunge pool with every pavilion
  • A more remote desert atmosphere
  • A private terrace and fire pit
  • A smaller, more secluded setting
  • A one-bedroom or two-bedroom pavilion
  • Less reliance on the main resort’s facilities

Camp Sarika has 10 tented pavilions, including five one-bedroom and five two-bedroom options. Each pavilion has its own plunge pool, fire pit, and outdoor space.

Camp Sarika is often the stronger fit for guests who want seclusion and do not need frequent access to the larger main spa or central pool. The main resort is usually better for guests who specifically want Amangiri’s signature pool, full spa facilities, and broader suite selection.

Neither option is automatically better. The recommendation depends on what you want the stay to feel like.

Amangiri sits on approximately 900 acres in Canyon Point, Utah, within the wider Four Corners region. The architecture uses concrete colored to reflect the surrounding sandstone, allowing the resort to sit quietly within the desert rather than compete with it.

The main pool wraps around a natural rock formation estimated to be approximately 165 million years old. It is one of the defining visual elements of the property, but the overall experience is less about the pool itself and more about the scale, quiet, and openness of the landscape.

The Aman Spa covers close to 25,000 square feet and includes:

  • Treatment rooms
  • A flotation pavilion
  • A yoga pavilion
  • Hydrotherapy facilities
  • Cold-plunge experiences
  • Movement and mindfulness spaces

The property is luxurious, but it does not operate like a traditional resort built around constant entertainment. The days can feel very empty in the best possible way, provided that is what the traveler wants.

Wellness Programming at Amangiri

The most common misunderstanding about Amangiri is that it functions like a structured retreat.

It does not.

While Amangiri avoids fixed, mandatory retreat regimens, every stay includes complimentary daily group wellness sessions. Guests can join a daily morning group yoga or fitness class, alongside having full access to the fitness center and the Aman Spa’s specialized water pavilion. Private, one-on-one mindfulness, movement, or therapeutic body treatments remain available to schedule individually. Depending on availability and the selected itinerary, experiences may include:

  • Yoga
  • Pilates
  • Guided meditation
  • Breathwork
  • Sound bowl sessions
  • Mindfulness practices
  • Massage
  • Aqua shiatsu
  • Flotation therapy
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Personalized spa treatments

Even Amangiri’s wellness packages generally rely on individualized itinerary planning rather than a fixed programme followed by every guest.

A traveler can create a moderately structured wellness week with movement, meditation, treatments, and outdoor activity. Another guest can schedule almost nothing. Both approaches can work, but the booking and pre-arrival planning should reflect which version you want.

Amangiri is therefore better at supporting restoration and flexibility than accountability or measurable transformation.

Outdoor Experiences and Adventure

For many guests, the landscape is as important as the spa.

Outdoor experiences may include:

  • Guided desert hikes
  • Slot canyon excursions
  • Via Ferrata
  • Horseback riding
  • Lake Powell experiences
  • Helicopter access to Tower Butte
  • Sunrise or sunset activities
  • Private desert dining

Some activities operate with limited daily capacity. Via Ferrata, helicopter experiences, and Lake Powell boat time should generally be discussed and reserved before arrival, especially during spring and fall.

Waiting until check-in may significantly reduce the available options.

A well-balanced first stay might include one or two larger outdoor experiences, several spa sessions, and enough unscheduled time for the setting to have an effect. Filling every day with excursions can work against the reason many travelers choose Amangiri in the first place.

Dining at Amangiri

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner for two guests per suite are included in the nightly rate.

The food draws on the American Southwest, seasonal ingredients, and Indigenous culinary influences. Dietary requirements can be handled through advance requests rather than through one fixed wellness menu.

Dining options may include:

  • Main restaurant dining
  • Private suite dining
  • Desert dining experiences
  • Fireside Pavilion dinners
  • A tasting menu
  • Wine pairings

Certain private experiences, tasting menus, and wine pairings may involve additional charges.

Amangiri does not impose a prescribed nutrition programme. There is no expectation that guests follow a controlled menu, count calories, or report their food choices to a practitioner.

This gives travelers more freedom than they would receive at a medical wellness resort, but it also means nutrition is not being used as a closely monitored part of a treatment protocol.

Alcohol Policy at Amangiri

Amangiri is not a dry wellness resort.

Wine, cocktails, and spirits are available throughout the property, including at the Desert Lounge, through private dining, and during selected sunset experiences. Alcohol is not restricted to one location or a narrow set of hours.

Wellness packages generally include non-alcoholic beverages, while alcoholic drinks are charged separately.

This is different from SHA Wellness, where alcohol and coffee are discouraged as part of the wider health philosophy. Canyon Ranch limits alcohol more closely, while Miraval makes it available separately without positioning it as the focus of the stay.

At Amangiri, alcohol is available without becoming central to the experience.

Solo Travel, Couples, and Milestone Trips

Amangiri works particularly well for two types of travelers: people who want to be left alone and couples who want uninterrupted time together.

Solo Travel

A solo guest can move through the property without pressure to join communal meals, attend group sessions, or participate socially. This makes Amangiri a strong option for reflection, private recovery, or time away from constant interaction.

It may be less suitable for a solo traveler who wants to meet people through classes and shared programming.

Families and Small Groups

The main resort offers greater suite variety for families and small groups, including multi-room categories such as the Amangiri and Girjaala suites.

Camp Sarika’s two-bedroom pavilions can also work well when the priority is private space and a more self-contained desert setting.

Couples

Approximately 65 percent of wellness clients travel as couples, and Amangiri is particularly well suited to anniversaries, honeymoons, and private milestone trips.

Depending on the package and availability, couples may arrange:

  • Shared movement sessions
  • Couples’ massages
  • Private dining
  • Sunset experiences
  • Outdoor excursions
  • Suites or pavilions with private plunge pools

The privacy is a strength. The key is selecting an accommodation category that provides the level of seclusion expected at this price point.

how many nights do you stay at amangiri

How Many Nights Do You Need?

Several Amangiri wellness and connection packages have a three-night minimum.

Three nights can work for a short celebration or a focused escape, but we generally recommend four to five nights for a first visit. The first day is often spent arriving, settling in, and adjusting to the pace of the property.

A longer stay allows time for:

  • Multiple spa treatments
  • One or two outdoor excursions
  • Movement or mindfulness sessions
  • Private dining
  • Unstructured time
  • Rest between more physically demanding activities

Trying to combine Via Ferrata, a slot canyon excursion, Lake Powell, several spa treatments, and meaningful downtime within three nights can make the stay feel unnecessarily rushed.

Travelers flying a long distance, particularly from the eastern United States, should consider whether a three-night stay justifies the travel time and cost.

Getting to Amangiri

The closest airport is Page Municipal Airport in Arizona.

Approximate travel times include:

  • Page Municipal Airport: 25 minutes by car
  • Lake Powell: Approximately 15 minutes
  • St. George, Utah: Approximately 2.5 hours
  • Flagstaff, Arizona: Approximately 2.5 hours
  • Las Vegas, Nevada: Approximately 4.5 hours
  • Phoenix, Arizona: Approximately 4.5 hours

Complimentary resort transfers are available from Page Municipal Airport.

Some longer driving routes can be combined with visits to destinations such as Zion National Park or the Grand Canyon. Whether that improves the trip or adds too much movement depends on the length and purpose of the itinerary.

For a wellness-focused stay, we usually avoid adding so many stops that the guest arrives tired or spends most of the trip changing hotels.

The Best Time to Visit Amangiri

Spring: March Through May

Spring offers comfortable conditions for hiking, Via Ferrata, and other outdoor experiences. It is also one of the most requested periods, so suite and activity availability can become limited.

Summer

Summer temperatures can be high. Outdoor activities are usually more comfortable in the morning, with afternoons reserved for the spa, pool, or indoor rest.

Winter: December and January

Winter can offer lower rates, cooler days, and occasional snow on the surrounding mesas. Travelers primarily interested in the spa, architecture, privacy, and quiet may find winter particularly appealing.

Fall: September Through November

Fall is another strong period for outdoor activity. Like spring, it is popular and should be planned well in advance.

For spring and fall stays, we often recommend confirming dates six to twelve months in advance. Amangiri has only 34 main-resort suites and 10 Camp Sarika pavilions, so preferred categories can disappear quickly.

Pricing at Amangiri

Amangiri sits within Rosedale Travel’s Ultra-Luxury tier, generally starting at $20,000 and above per person for a week.

The final cost depends on:

  • Travel dates
  • Length of stay
  • Main resort or Camp Sarika
  • Suite or pavilion category
  • Private plunge pool
  • One-bedroom or multi-room accommodation
  • Spa treatments
  • Guided excursions
  • Helicopter experiences
  • Lake Powell activities
  • Private dining
  • Alcohol

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner for two guests per suite are included in the nightly rate. Alcohol, spa treatments, and guided experiences are generally charged separately.

These additional costs can increase the total quickly. A realistic budget should therefore account for the entire itinerary rather than focusing only on the accommodation rate.

The $100 eligible resort credit provided through a qualifying Virtuoso booking can be applied toward certain incidentals, but not alcohol, boutique purchases, or the room rate itself.

Our Amangiri Planning Process

01

Consultation

We begin with a 30-minute conversation about your goals, budget, timing, travel companions, preferred pace, and how much structure you want.

02

Resort-Fit Assessment

We confirm whether Amangiri is the strongest option. When another resort is better aligned with your goals, we explain why.

03

Main Resort or Camp Sarika

We resolve this decision before discussing individual suite categories because it changes the facilities, privacy, and rhythm of the stay.

04

Accommodation Recommendation

We recommend a specific suite or pavilion category based on privacy, pool access, group size, budget, and proximity to the resort’s central spaces.

05

Activity Strategy

We identify which experiences should be reserved in advance, particularly Via Ferrata, Tower Butte helicopter access, and Lake Powell activities.

06

Booking and Preferred Benefits

We handle the reservation, apply eligible Virtuoso benefits, and confirm the selected accommodation against live availability.

07

Pre-Arrival Planning

We create a day-by-day outline that balances spa treatments, movement, outdoor activity, dining, and open time.

08

Support and Follow-Up

We remain available during the trip when plans need to change. Afterward, we record relevant preferences to improve future travel recommendations.

The itinerary does not need to be packed to be useful. In many cases, the best plan for Amangiri is one that protects enough empty time.

What Rosedale Travel Does Not Book

Rosedale Travel does not book or recommend psychedelic-assisted or plant-medicine retreats, including programmes involving ayahuasca, psilocybin, or ibogaine.

The medical screening requirements, legal differences between jurisdictions, and safety considerations involved in these programmes fall outside our advisory expertise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Amangiri a wellness resort or a luxury hotel with a spa?

It can function as either, depending on how the stay is planned. Amangiri offers genuine wellness sessions, movement, mindfulness, spa treatments, and outdoor experiences, but it does not provide a clinical programme or mandatory schedule.

The wellness experience comes largely from the quiet, landscape, and freedom to slow down.

Should I stay at the main resort or Camp Sarika?

Choose Camp Sarika for maximum privacy, a private plunge pool with every pavilion, and a more remote atmosphere.

Choose the main resort for access to the larger Aman Spa, the central pool, greater suite variety, and multi-room accommodation options.

Are Camp Sarika guests able to use all main-resort facilities?

Camp Sarika operates with its own restaurant, pool, and spa suites rather than simply functioning as another wing of the main property. Access, transportation, and preferred facilities should be discussed during planning so the booking matches your expectations.

How many nights should I stay?

We recommend four to five nights for most first-time guests. Three nights can work, but it may feel rushed when combining outdoor excursions, treatments, and genuine downtime.

Is alcohol available?

Yes. Wine, cocktails, and spirits are available throughout the property and through private dining experiences. Alcohol is generally billed separately and may not be included in wellness packages.

Is Amangiri good for a honeymoon or anniversary?

Yes. The resort’s low guest count, private terraces, plunge-pool categories, couples’ treatments, and private dining make it particularly suitable for milestone trips.

Is Amangiri suitable for solo travelers?

Yes, especially for someone who values reflection and independence. There is little pressure to socialize or participate in group programming.

A solo traveler hoping to meet people may prefer a more community-oriented property.

Does Amangiri offer medical testing or diagnostics?

No. Travelers seeking biomarker testing, physician consultations, or a structured longevity programme should consider Canyon Ranch or SHA Wellness.

What is the difference between Amangiri and Miraval?

Miraval provides more classes, group programming, and an intentional digital-disconnection policy. Amangiri provides more privacy, fewer scheduled activities, and greater freedom to shape the stay independently.

What airport should I use?

Page Municipal Airport is the closest, approximately 25 minutes from the property. Complimentary transfers are available from Page.

St. George and Flagstaff are approximately 2.5 hours away, while Las Vegas and Phoenix are closer to 4.5 hours.

When should I book?

Spring and fall dates should generally be planned well in advance. With only 34 main-resort suites and 10 Camp Sarika pavilions, preferred dates and accommodation categories can become limited six to twelve months before travel.

Why book through an advisor rather than directly?

An advisor can assess whether Amangiri fits your wellness goal, compare it with relevant alternatives, explain Camp Sarika versus the main resort, recommend an appropriate accommodation category, secure qualifying preferred benefits, and reserve limited-capacity activities before arrival.

The goal is not simply to book Amangiri. It is to book the version of Amangiri that fits the experience you actually want.
