French Riviera Yacht Charter Specialist

A French Riviera yacht charter is best suited to travelers who want privacy, flexible days, personalized service, and the freedom to combine well-known ports with quieter time on the water.

The first decision is not which yacht looks best in photographs. It is how your group wants to divide the week between Monaco, Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Antibes, and calmer anchorages around Cap Ferrat, Villefranche-sur-Mer, and the Lérins Islands.

I recently had the experience of my daughter’s high school graduation trip to Croatia planned by Rachel Baumgartner. It was amazing!! We had another family along with us and Rachel took so much time learning what was important to us, researching extensively the best fit for us regarding hotels, transfers, restaurants, excursions and more! The entire trip was seamless!! And during the trip she checked in on us and was quick to respond with any questions we had. I highly recommend Rachel and Rosedale Travel!!!

Laura Spagnolo recently (fall 2025) planned an absolutely unforgettable group trip to Argentina. I travel frequently and this is the first trip I did not have to do or think about a single piece of the itinerary. I took my 12 yr old son, along with a few other families, on a planned group trip to Buenos Aires and iguazu falls. Starting with the preparation for the visit and Everything from city excursions, to soccer matches and stadium tours, to art centers, dinners out, fantastic hotels, experiencing the falls, and the ease with transfers and domestic flights ...it could NOT have been better. I will not plan trips without Rosedale travel from now on!! Thank you!

Rosedale travel was able to hook me up with a last minute excellent trip to Iceland. Kirsten worked with me to make sure everything we wanted to do got done, and even suggested some things I’d never heard of which I'm glad we did! I’ll be using Rosedale travel again in the near future!

Five stars aren't enough for Rachel! She delivered the most amazing and stress-free adventure for our son's 30th birthday trip to Moab! She helped with flights and booked a fantastic place to stay, but the lineup of incredible adventures she put together was the highlight. Our adventure loving son had a blast! Before we left, a physical folder with all our documents was delivered, and every detail was also available on a convenient app. Rachel was available for all our questions during planning and checked in with us during and after our trip! I will be using her services again and recommending her to everyone I know.

Not only is Rachel Baumgartner the best travel advisor I've ever had the pleasure of working with, but she is also one of the best individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working with. From start to finish, there is not a single thing she missed. She went above and beyond on everything possible and exceeded my expectations. She helped me plan my bachelorette, my fiance's bachelor party, and our honeymoon. I cannot recommend Rachel enough to anyone looking to plan travel. I am forever grateful to her for helping me to plan the trip of my dreams!

Kirsten at Rosedale planned our family trip to Greece. It was our first time using a travel agent but definitely won't be our last! Kirsten made the trip to easy and stress free! She listened to all our "wants" and built the perfect vacation for our family of 5. The excursions she booked were amazing - both were great companies to explore Greece with and we learned so much from our guides. The hotels and resorts she booked for us were beautiful properites and the extra perks (like welcome baskets and food vouchers) that we got from booking with Kirsten were a wonderful bonus! Don't hesitate to use Kirsten to design your next vacation - you will be so glad you did!

Kirstin was amazing! My sister and I had 17 tabs open trying to figure out connecting flights and/or trains in Europe to no avail! I reached out to her for the first time hoping that she could somehow solve this mystery and she did just that! She made it all work seamlessly. Going forward, I will never NOT travel without first consulting her. She had tips, ideas, suggestions, and solutions! She was easy to communicate with, affable, responsive to our desires and vision and followed through on everything she said. She asked for feedback afterwards, and I shared the one thing I wished had happened. I wish we had gotten the itinerary in paper prior to departure. She and I miscommunicated about that as I had handled all stateside flights prior to international flights so she didn't know our actual date of departure. Highly recommend.

KIrsten Billhardt of Rosedale Travel did a fabulous job of planning and organizing our first trip to Scandinavia; she even figured out a way to work in a side trip to northern Germany within a 11-day (including flights) timeframe! It's been five months since we went, and we're still raving about the variety of experiences including outdoor excursions, city explorations, historical site and special attraction visits, different transportation modes, and delicious food (we loved the huge hotel breakfast buffets). We highly recommend working with Kirsten!

Rosedale knows the secret sauce of memorable travel.

Your dates matter just as much. A charter during the Cannes Film Festival or Monaco Grand Prix is a very different purchase from a standard summer week. Yacht availability, marina access, restaurant reservations, route flexibility, and total cost can all change during these periods.

As your French Riviera Luxury Yacht Charter Specialist, Rosedale Travel helps match four elements before you commit:

The objective is not simply to find an available yacht. It is to prevent an expensive mismatch between the charter you book and the vacation your group actually wants.

Schedule a consultation to start to compare French Riviera yacht options for your dates, group size, and preferred travel pace.

Why Work With Rosedale Travel

Two yachts with similar weekly rates can produce completely different experiences.

One may have a crew that understands busy Riviera harbors, knows how to sequence Monaco and Cannes around berth availability, and can recommend when to stay onboard rather than force another crowded port visit. Another may look equally attractive online but have a cabin arrangement, crew style, onboard setup, or route suitability that does not work as well for your group.

Those differences rarely appear in listing photographs.

Clients often spend weeks comparing yacht length, deck photographs, and amenity lists before deciding whether the French Riviera itself matches the experience they want. A family looking for quiet swimming and relaxed meals may need a different route from friends who want Monaco nightlife, Cannes restaurants, and a day at the Pampelonne beach clubs.

Rosedale Travel helps you work through those choices before a contract is signed. Our role can include:

  • Matching the destination to your preferred pace
  • Comparing yacht categories and cabin arrangements
  • Assessing crew suitability
  • Explaining APA and charter pricing
  • Reviewing the practical trade-offs between motor and sailing yachts
  • Planning around weather, marina availability, and event weeks
  • Coordinating dietary preferences and special requests
  • Helping structure a realistic route
  • Reviewing what is included and what will be billed separately
  • Remaining available when plans need to change during the trip

A charter is flexible, but it should not be vague. You should understand what you are buying, what can change, and how the yacht and route were selected for your group.

Star Ocean Yachts

Rosedale Trave works with Star Ocean Yachts as its preferred yacht charter brokerage partner. Star Ocean Yachts provides charter and yacht management services and can source options across its brokerage relationships rather than limiting the search to one small managed fleet. The best match is not always the most prominent yacht in a search result, and during event weeks, real availability can narrow quickly.

Through the advisor and broker relationship, the selection process can consider:

The result is a recommendation based on fit, not simply inventory.

A French Riviera charter works particularly well for travelers who want different experiences within the same week.

Your group might spend one evening at a harbor-front restaurant in Monaco, another afternoon near Saint-Tropez, and the following morning swimming off the Lérins Islands. That combination of social ports and private anchorage time is the Riviera’s main strength.

This charter is a strong fit for

  • Families celebrating a milestone
  • Multi-generational groups wanting private shared space
  • Couples who value privacy and attentive service
  • Friends who want to travel together without following a group-tour schedule
  • Travelers who enjoy alternating between time ashore and time on the water
  • Guests who want a mix of private-chef meals and restaurant evenings
  • Groups comfortable with a flexible itinerary
  • Travelers who want several recognizable ports without long passages between each stop
  • Guests attending the Cannes Film Festival, Cannes Lions, or Monaco Grand Prix
  • Groups with a realistic budget for a fully crewed Mediterranean charter

Groups of six to ten guests often fit the available cabin and social layouts well, but there is no requirement to fill every cabin. A couple can charter a yacht designed for eight or ten guests when the additional space, crew attention, and amenities justify the cost.

French Riviera yacht charter vs. resort vacation

A resort gives you a fixed location, established restaurants, a predictable room setup, and activities arranged around the property.

A yacht gives you a private living space, a professional crew, meals adjusted to your preferences, and the ability to move between destinations. That flexibility also means the exact plan can change because of weather, sea conditions, berth availability, or the captain’s judgment.

Travelers who value control over pace and privacy usually prefer the charter. Travelers who want every facility available in one place may be happier at a resort.

Talk with Rosedale Travel to compare motor yachts, sailing yachts, cabin layouts, crews, and realistic total costs for your group.

Who Should Consider Another Option

A French Riviera charter is not the right recommendation for every traveler.

Consider another vacation if the lowest cost is your priority

The French Riviera sits at the more expensive end of Mediterranean charter travel. Marina charges, provisioning, restaurants, fuel, event demand, and local taxes can add significantly to the base charter fee.

A resort, villa stay, river cruise, or smaller-ship itinerary may provide a better experience when total cost is the main concern.

Reconsider the Riviera if you expect every anchorage to be private

Monaco, Cannes, and Saint-Tropez become busy during summer and especially during major events. The quiet experience guests picture comes from deliberate route choices, such as an early swim near the Lérins Islands or time around Cap Ferrat, rather than from the entire destination being secluded.

Use a bareboat specialist if you want to skipper the yacht yourself

Rosedale Travel exclusively arranges fully crewed charters. If your group consists of experienced sailors specifically seeking a self-skippered bareboat holiday, we will recommend working with a specialist in that category instead of trying to turn a bareboat request into a crewed charter.

Consider Greece or Croatia if you want more open-water sailing

The French Riviera is comparatively compact. Cannes and Monaco are only about 21 nautical miles apart in a straight coastal measure, while Saint-Tropez extends the route farther west. This supports short motor-yacht transfers and several port experiences within one week, but it does not provide the same island-to-island sailing experience as the Cyclades or Croatia’s Dalmatian coast. that wants long passages, more time under sail, or a different island every day may enjoy Greece or Croatia more.

Choose a land-based stay if you want constant sightseeing

A yacht gives you access to coastal stops, private meals, water activities, and selected shore excursions. It is not the most efficient way to cover museums, inland villages, shopping districts, and historic attractions from morning until night.

Travelers who want a full sightseeing schedule may get more value from a hotel-based Riviera itinerary with a yacht charter added for one or two days.

What the French Riviera Charter Experience Is Actually Like

A crewed yacht charter does not operate like a cruise ship with a fixed published schedule.

The captain plans around your priorities, but safety, sea conditions, marina restrictions, and guest comfort come first. The route discussed before departure provides direction, not a guarantee that every port will be visited on an exact day.

Flexible itinerary vs. fixed itinerary

Flexibility is one of the strongest reasons to charter a yacht, but it is also something first-time guests can misunderstand.

A captain may change the order of Cannes and Monaco because one harbor has confirmed space on a different night. A planned port visit may become an anchorage evening because the sea conditions make the alternative more comfortable. A group might also decide to remain in a quiet location rather than move simply because another stop appears on the draft route.

Clients who need every day to follow a fixed printed schedule may find this frustrating. Clients who understand the itinerary as a working plan usually make better use of the yacht.

A typical day onboard

A morning might begin with breakfast on deck near the Lérins Islands, Cap d’Antibes, Villefranche-sur-Mer, or Cap Ferrat. The group can then swim, snorkel, kayak, paddleboard, or use the yacht’s available water toys.

Lunch may be prepared onboard by the chef or arranged around a beach-club visit. Later, the yacht can remain at anchor or move to another port for an evening ashore.

The precise experience depends on the selected yacht. Water toys, tenders, deck space, dining arrangements, crew size, and cabin layouts are not identical across the charter market.

Private-chef dining vs. restaurants ashore

Private-chef dining gives your group control over menus, dietary preferences, meal times, and the setting. There is no reservation to reach and no need to reorganize the evening around a restaurant’s schedule.

Dining ashore gives you access to the restaurant scenes in Monaco, Cannes, Antibes, and Saint-Tropez. However, restaurant evenings require reservations, tender or marina coordination, and enough time ashore.

Most groups enjoy a combination. Trying to schedule a major restaurant every night can reduce the amount of time available for relaxed onboard dining and spontaneous anchorage stops.

Yacht Options for a French Riviera Charter

Motor yacht vs. sailing yacht

A motor yacht is usually the more practical choice for groups wanting Monaco, Cannes, Antibes, Saint-Tropez, and several anchorage stops within one week.

Motor yachts make it easier to cover short coastal distances quickly and preserve more time for swimming, dining, and exploring ashore. Actual running times depend on the yacht’s cruising speed, sea conditions, and route, so “under two hours” should be treated as an estimate rather than a promise.

A sailing yacht or catamaran works better for groups that care more about the act of sailing than the number of ports visited. This usually means a slower route, fewer major stops, and more time at anchor.

Neither option is automatically better. The decision depends on whether your group measures variety by the number of destinations visited or by the amount of time spent enjoying the water.

Larger yacht vs. smaller yacht

A larger yacht may provide:

  • More cabin and bathroom space
  • Additional indoor and outdoor social areas
  • A larger crew
  • A wider selection of amenities
  • More separation between guest and service areas
  • A larger tender or broader water-toy inventory

It does not necessarily mean a larger group.

Couples and small families sometimes choose yachts built for eight or ten guests because they value the space and crew configuration. A smaller yacht can still be the correct choice for first-time charterers or groups that would rather use more of the budget for dining, fuel, events, and time ashore.

Crewed charter vs. bareboat

Rosedale Travel books fully crewed yachts with a professional captain, chef, and service crew.

This is particularly useful on a route involving busy ports and high-demand periods. An experienced captain handles navigation, harbor procedures, weather decisions, and route changes while the chef and crew manage meals and onboard service.

A bareboat charter gives experienced sailors more operational control, but it also transfers responsibility for navigation, provisioning, berthing, and daily yacht management to the guests.

French Riviera Destination Guidance

The French Riviera, or Côte d’Azur, runs along France’s Mediterranean coastline, with Monaco positioned as a separate sovereign principality along the route.

Most international guests arrive through Nice Côte d’Azur Airport. The airport describes itself as France’s second-largest airport platform after Paris. Cannes Mandelieu Airport primarily serves business aviation and may be considered for private arrivals. bes and Port Vauban

Antibes works well as a starting point because it sits between the eastern Riviera stops and the route toward Cannes and Saint-Tropez.

Port Vauban has approximately 1,500 berths and can accommodate superyachts up to 160 metres in designated berths. Rather than relying on the difficult-to-prove claim that it is definitively the largest marina in the Mediterranean by every measure, it is more accurate to describe it as one of the Mediterranean’s major yachting hubs. is generally the right base for groups that want balanced access in both directions and a quieter first or final evening than Monaco or Cannes.

Cannes and the Lérins Islands

Cannes is a strong choice for groups interested in restaurants, waterfront hotels, events, and the Croisette.

Just offshore, Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat in the Lérins Islands provide a much quieter contrast. This makes Cannes useful in a charter itinerary because a group can spend part of the day near the town and another part swimming or dining onboard away from the waterfront activity.

Cannes becomes significantly busier during the Film Festival in May and Cannes Lions in June. A group attending either event should decide whether the event is the primary reason for the charter or simply one part of a wider Riviera route.

Monaco

Monaco is a separate principality and one of the Riviera’s most requested social stops.

A Monaco visit may include Port Hercule, an evening around Monte Carlo, a casino visit, or dining ashore. During the Monaco Grand Prix, the harbor becomes a central part of the event, and access is far more competitive than during a standard week.

A Monaco-focused charter suits travelers who value the event, harbor atmosphere, restaurants, and social activity enough to accept the added cost and reduced flexibility.

Saint-Tropez and Pampelonne Beach

Saint-Tropez works best for groups specifically interested in beach clubs, restaurants, nightlife, and an evening around the old port.

Pampelonne Beach sits outside the town and includes well-known venues such as Club 55 and Nikki Beach. A visit may be arranged as a lunch or afternoon ashore rather than automatically requiring an overnight stay in Saint-Tropez.

The route from Antibes or Cannes is longer than the short eastern Riviera hops, so Saint-Tropez should be treated as a deliberate part of the week rather than added without considering fuel, travel time, and the group’s priorities.

Villefranche-sur-Mer and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat

Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat provide the calmer side of the eastern Riviera.

These stops work well for swimming, lunch onboard, and a quieter day between Cannes and Monaco. They are particularly valuable for groups concerned that the itinerary may feel too focused on busy ports and restaurant reservations.

Nice

Nice is the region’s main air gateway and may be part of the pre-charter or post-charter stay.

It is not usually the stop around which the yacht route is built. For time on the water, nearby Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat will often provide a better anchorage experience.

Èze

Èze is a hilltop village rather than a yacht anchorage.

It can be added as a half-day shore excursion when the yacht is positioned around Monaco, Cap Ferrat, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, or the surrounding coast. It is best for groups that want one inland cultural stop without turning the charter into a full land-tour itinerary.

Event-Week Yacht Charters

Cannes Film Festival

A charter around the Cannes Film Festival is appropriate when access to the event atmosphere, meetings, hospitality, or Cannes nightlife is central to the trip.

The route will usually remain more focused on Cannes, and availability should be secured earlier than for a standard summer week.

Cannes Lions

Cannes Lions creates another high-demand period in June, particularly for corporate groups, advertising professionals, and hosted events.

Its effect on yacht charter demand is generally less extensive than the Film Festival or Monaco Grand Prix, but it can still reduce berth and yacht availability around Cannes.

Monaco Grand Prix

A Monaco Grand Prix charter is not simply a normal Riviera charter that happens to occur during the race.

Berth position, hospitality arrangements, marina access, event tickets, security, and movement restrictions can become major parts of the planning. The harbor experience may justify the premium for committed Formula 1 travelers, but it is unnecessary for guests who are only mildly interested in the event.

How event pricing should be approached

The supplied planning material uses a 20 to 40 percent premium as a working expectation for major event weeks. That is useful for early qualification, but it should not be presented as a guaranteed fixed surcharge.

Actual pricing depends on:

  • The selected yacht
  • Exact dates
  • Charter duration
  • Berth arrangements
  • Event access
  • Owner terms
  • Repositioning requirements
  • Available crew and yacht inventory

We use the estimated premium to establish whether the event week is financially realistic, then replace it with a live quotation.

How a Typical French Riviera Yacht Charter Route Works

A balanced seven-day route

Most routes begin around Antibes because Port Vauban provides a central base.

A balanced week may include:

  • Antibes and Cap d’Antibes
  • Cannes and the Lérins Islands
  • Saint-Tropez or Pampelonne Beach
  • Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat
  • Monaco
  • One or more quieter anchorage days

This should not be treated as a fixed seven-day schedule. The direction and order depend on the selected yacht, embarkation point, weather, marina confirmations, and how much time the group wants ashore.

A port-focused route

A port-focused charter prioritizes Cannes, Monaco, Saint-Tropez, restaurants, nightlife, and social activity.

This is generally better for friends traveling together, adult celebrations, corporate groups, or travelers attending a major event.

The trade-off is less uninterrupted anchorage time and more dependence on reservations and marina arrangements.

A slower anchorage-focused route

A slower route spends more time around the Lérins Islands, Cap d’Antibes, Villefranche-sur-Mer, and Cap Ferrat.

This tends to suit families, couples, and groups that value swimming, onboard meals, and privacy more than seeing every major port.

An event-focused route

An event-focused charter keeps the yacht closer to Cannes or Monaco for a larger portion of the week.

This reduces port variety but places the group near the activity they are paying to attend. The event should therefore be selected before the yacht, since it affects location, lead time, pricing, and berth requirements.

French Riviera Yacht Charter Pricing Expectations

Mediterranean charters are commonly priced using a base charter fee plus an Advance Provisioning Allowance, known as the APA.

This differs from many Caribbean crewed charters, where pricing may be structured more like an all-inclusive package.

Base charter fee

The base fee generally covers:

  • Use of the yacht
  • Professional captain
  • Chef
  • Crew
  • Standard onboard equipment listed for that yacht
  • The yacht’s published charter amenities

Advance Provisioning Allowance

The APA is paid before departure and used to cover operating expenses such as:

  • Fuel
  • Food
  • Beverages
  • Marina and mooring charges
  • Local operating expenses
  • Special provisioning requests
  • Certain transfers or itinerary-related expenses

For planning purposes, the source material estimates the APA at approximately 25 to 35 percent of the base charter fee for a French Riviera itinerary.

The captain maintains an account of APA spending. Unused funds are normally returned at the end of the charter, while any overage must be settled before disembarkation.

French VAT

The standard VAT rate commonly applied to yacht charters beginning in France or Monaco is 20 percent. However, the final VAT treatment can depend on the charter contract, embarkation point, and the documented portion of the itinerary outside applicable EU waters.

Your quotation should therefore state the actual VAT calculation for the proposed charter rather than presenting 20 percent as an estimate that will be added later. gratuity

Crew gratuity is generally separate from the charter fee and APA.

The source material recommends budgeting approximately 10 to 15 percent of the base charter fee. The final amount remains discretionary and should reflect the service provided.

Working weekly base-fee ranges

These ranges come from Rosedale Travel’s supplied planning material and should be used for early qualification rather than as guaranteed market pricing.

Entry range: $15,000 to $25,000

This range may include a smaller crewed sailing yacht, catamaran, or motor yacht with more limited availability.

At the lower end, options may be more realistic in shoulder season, for shorter charter periods, or on older and smaller vessels. Clients should not expect a broad selection of current-generation motor yachts at this level during peak Riviera weeks.

Mid-range: $30,000 to $75,000

This range generally provides a wider selection for groups of approximately six to ten guests.

The yacht, crew size, age, cabin arrangement, water toys, and charter dates will still create meaningful differences within this category.

Luxury range: $100,000 and above

This range opens access to larger yachts, more crew, more space, and more extensive amenity packages.

A higher budget does not guarantee unrestricted availability, particularly during the Cannes Film Festival or Monaco Grand Prix. The yacht and crew still need to be secured early.

Event-week premium

For early planning, allow for a possible 20 to 40 percent increase during the Cannes Film Festival or Monaco Grand Prix.

This estimate should be confirmed with live yacht and berth pricing before the client makes a decision.

Request a consultation to receive a personalized charter quotation based on your dates, group size, preferred yacht type, and whether an event week is part of the plan.

What Is Commonly Included

Exact inclusions vary by yacht, but a fully crewed charter will generally include:

  • The yacht
  • Professional captain
  • Chef
  • Service and deck crew
  • Use of the yacht’s listed standard equipment
  • Route planning with the captain
  • Water toys and sports equipment specifically listed for the selected yacht
  • Onboard housekeeping and meal preparation

Do not assume that every yacht includes Seabobs, Jet Skis, paddleboards, kayaks, snorkeling equipment, gym equipment, or the same tender setup. The inventory must be checked yacht by yacht.

What Is Usually Extra

Plan separately for:

  • APA
  • Fuel
  • Food and beverages
  • Marina and mooring fees
  • French VAT
  • Crew gratuity
  • Premium wines or specialty provisions
  • Restaurant meals ashore
  • Beach-club spending
  • Event tickets and hospitality
  • Private guides
  • Private transfers
  • Helicopter or private aviation arrangements
  • Delivery or repositioning charges, where applicable
  • Special equipment or activities not carried by the yacht

Private aviation, helicopter transfers, casino arrangements, restaurant reservations, and private guides are not presented as standing in-house Rosedale Travel services. Where appropriate, Rosedale Travel can help coordinate these requests through outside partners.

Request a personalized charter quotation based on your dates, group size, preferred yacht type, and whether an event week is part of the plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many ports can we visit in seven days?

Three or four principal areas are realistic for many groups.

A route may combine Antibes, Cannes, Monaco, and either Saint-Tropez or the quieter Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat area. The exact number depends on yacht speed, weather, guest pace, and how much time the group wants to spend ashore.

A charter should not become a checklist of ports. Visiting fewer places often creates a more relaxed experience.

Is a motor yacht or sailing yacht better?

A motor yacht is usually the stronger choice for travelers who want to visit several Riviera ports within one week.

A sailing yacht or catamaran suits groups that prefer a slower pace, fewer stops, and more time sailing or at anchor.

The correct choice depends on the group, not the destination name alone.

What does a charter cost after all fees?

The base fee is only one part of the total.

In addition to the base charter fee, plan for:

  • APA, often estimated at 25 to 35 percent
  • VAT, commonly based on a standard rate of 20 percent for applicable French or Monaco charters
  • Crew gratuity, commonly budgeted at 10 to 15 percent
  • Any event access, transfers, restaurants, or special arrangements not covered through the APA

A complete quotation should separate these categories before you commit.

How far ahead should we book?

For June through August, booking six to twelve months ahead generally provides a stronger yacht and crew selection.

The Cannes Film Festival and Monaco Grand Prix should be approached even earlier where possible.

May and September dates outside the major events may occasionally offer more options closer to departure, but availability cannot be assumed.

Do we need a passport for a French Riviera yacht charter?

Yes. International travelers need a valid passport and must meet the entry requirements applicable to their nationality.

France is part of the Schengen Area. For visa-exempt travelers, short stays are generally limited to 90 days within any 180-day period. ly 29, 2026, ETIAS is not yet operational and applications are not being accepted. The European Union currently states that ETIAS is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2026, with the exact date to be announced before launch. Entry requirements should be checked again for the client’s specific departure date. ld we plan around the Cannes Film Festival or Monaco Grand Prix?

Only when the event is an important reason for the trip.

Both periods require more lead time and can involve higher yacht rates, limited marina access, event-ticket costs, and a route focused more heavily on Cannes or Monaco.

When the event is not a priority, a non-event week will usually provide more yacht choice, lower costs, and greater route flexibility.

Is a larger yacht unnecessary for two people?

Not necessarily.

A couple may choose a larger yacht for additional space, a larger crew, more private areas, or a stronger amenity package. The decision should be based on value and preferred experience rather than the number of empty cabins.

Are water toys included?

Only the toys and equipment listed for the selected yacht should be considered included.

Some yachts carry paddleboards, kayaks, snorkeling gear, Seabobs, Jet Skis, inflatables, or exercise equipment. Others offer a more limited inventory.

This is one reason yacht matching matters more than assuming similarly priced boats are interchangeable.

Can the itinerary change after we board?

Yes.

The captain may alter the route because of weather, sea conditions, safety, harbor restrictions, or confirmed berth availability. Your group can also request changes, provided they are operationally realistic and remain within the agreed charter area and budget.

Why use a yacht charter advisor instead of booking directly?

A direct booking may provide access to a yacht, but it does not automatically determine whether that yacht, crew, cabin arrangement, route, and cost structure fit your group.

Rosedale Travel helps compare the complete charter outcome rather than leaving you to make the decision from photographs and a specification sheet.

The advisor’s value is especially important when:

  • Several yachts appear similar online
  • The group contains different ages or travel preferences
  • An event week is involved
  • The client has never paid an APA
  • Cabin configuration matters
  • The itinerary needs to balance ports and quieter stops
  • The total budget must be calculated before signing
  • Special requests need to be coordinated across several parties
