CroatiaYacht Charter Specialist

A crewed Croatia yacht charter works best for travelers who value privacy, flexibility, and personalized service more than the predictable structure of a resort or cruise. The important decision is not simply whether Croatia is worth visiting. It is whether Croatia matches the type of week your group wants and, if it does, which route, yacht, and crew can deliver it without spending too much of the charter in transit.

Most Croatia charters require two decisions early in the planning process. The first is whether to operate round-trip from the Split area through the central Dalmatian islands or travel one way toward Dubrovnik, accepting longer distances and possible repositioning costs. The second is whether a sailing yacht or motor yacht, with its particular cabin layout, crew, and amenities, matches your group’s pace.

Those decisions are connected. A slower sailing yacht may work exceptionally well for a central Dalmatian itinerary, while a motor yacht can make more sense for guests who want to reach Korčula, Mljet, and Dubrovnik without giving up as much time at anchor.

Rosedale Travel helps you compare those options before you commit to a yacht. We look beyond availability and listing photographs to determine whether the route, crew, yacht layout, and realistic total cost fit how your group actually wants to spend the week.

I recently had the experience of my daughter’s high school graduation trip to Croatia planned by Rachel Baumgartner. It was amazing!! We had another family along with us and Rachel took so much time learning what was important to us, researching extensively the best fit for us regarding hotels, transfers, restaurants, excursions and more! The entire trip was seamless!! And during the trip she checked in on us and was quick to respond with any questions we had. I highly recommend Rachel and Rosedale Travel!!!

Laura Spagnolo recently (fall 2025) planned an absolutely unforgettable group trip to Argentina. I travel frequently and this is the first trip I did not have to do or think about a single piece of the itinerary. I took my 12 yr old son, along with a few other families, on a planned group trip to Buenos Aires and iguazu falls. Starting with the preparation for the visit and Everything from city excursions, to soccer matches and stadium tours, to art centers, dinners out, fantastic hotels, experiencing the falls, and the ease with transfers and domestic flights ...it could NOT have been better. I will not plan trips without Rosedale travel from now on!! Thank you!

Rosedale travel was able to hook me up with a last minute excellent trip to Iceland. Kirsten worked with me to make sure everything we wanted to do got done, and even suggested some things I’d never heard of which I'm glad we did! I’ll be using Rosedale travel again in the near future!

Five stars aren't enough for Rachel! She delivered the most amazing and stress-free adventure for our son's 30th birthday trip to Moab! She helped with flights and booked a fantastic place to stay, but the lineup of incredible adventures she put together was the highlight. Our adventure loving son had a blast! Before we left, a physical folder with all our documents was delivered, and every detail was also available on a convenient app. Rachel was available for all our questions during planning and checked in with us during and after our trip! I will be using her services again and recommending her to everyone I know.

Not only is Rachel Baumgartner the best travel advisor I've ever had the pleasure of working with, but she is also one of the best individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working with. From start to finish, there is not a single thing she missed. She went above and beyond on everything possible and exceeded my expectations. She helped me plan my bachelorette, my fiance's bachelor party, and our honeymoon. I cannot recommend Rachel enough to anyone looking to plan travel. I am forever grateful to her for helping me to plan the trip of my dreams!

Kirsten at Rosedale planned our family trip to Greece. It was our first time using a travel agent but definitely won't be our last! Kirsten made the trip to easy and stress free! She listened to all our "wants" and built the perfect vacation for our family of 5. The excursions she booked were amazing - both were great companies to explore Greece with and we learned so much from our guides. The hotels and resorts she booked for us were beautiful properites and the extra perks (like welcome baskets and food vouchers) that we got from booking with Kirsten were a wonderful bonus! Don't hesitate to use Kirsten to design your next vacation - you will be so glad you did!

Kirstin was amazing! My sister and I had 17 tabs open trying to figure out connecting flights and/or trains in Europe to no avail! I reached out to her for the first time hoping that she could somehow solve this mystery and she did just that! She made it all work seamlessly. Going forward, I will never NOT travel without first consulting her. She had tips, ideas, suggestions, and solutions! She was easy to communicate with, affable, responsive to our desires and vision and followed through on everything she said. She asked for feedback afterwards, and I shared the one thing I wished had happened. I wish we had gotten the itinerary in paper prior to departure. She and I miscommunicated about that as I had handled all stateside flights prior to international flights so she didn't know our actual date of departure. Highly recommend.

KIrsten Billhardt of Rosedale Travel did a fabulous job of planning and organizing our first trip to Scandinavia; she even figured out a way to work in a side trip to northern Germany within a 11-day (including flights) timeframe! It's been five months since we went, and we're still raving about the variety of experiences including outdoor excursions, city explorations, historical site and special attraction visits, different transportation modes, and delicious food (we loved the huge hotel breakfast buffets). We highly recommend working with Kirsten!

What a Croatia Yacht Charter Specialist Actually Helps You Decide

Yacht charter planning is not the same as reserving a hotel room. Two yachts with similar weekly rates can produce very different vacations because their crews, cabin arrangements, cruising speeds, onboard spaces, and water-toy inventories may have little in common.

One yacht may have a crew that regularly operates in Croatia and understands the timing of popular moorings, marina procedures, afternoon wind patterns, and quieter alternatives around Hvar and Vis. Another may be a capable yacht with a crew that has less familiarity with the local route. That difference rarely appears clearly on a yacht listing.

Our role is to help answer the questions that matter after the yacht has left the marina:

  • Does the crew’s service style fit your group?
  • Are the cabins suitable for couples, children, or unrelated friends sharing the yacht?
  • Does the yacht have the outdoor space your group will actually use?
  • Are the water toys and amenities you care about are included?
  • Can the yacht comfortably operate the proposed route?
  • Does the itinerary allow enough time ashore and at anchor?
  • What will the charter realistically cost after APA, VAT, gratuity, and possible one-way fees?

Clients often begin by comparing boats and later realize that the destination and route should have been decided first. A yacht can be an excellent choice in the wrong itinerary, or the wrong choice for a group whose priorities do not match its layout and cruising style.

We would rather identify that mismatch during the first consultation than after a contract has been signed.

Why Work With Rosedale Travel

Rosedale Travel does not begin with a generic list of every yacht available in Croatia. We first establish how your group wants the week to feel.

That conversation covers your preferred balance between time aboard and time ashore, how much open-water cruising feels comfortable, whether nightlife matters, how often you want to dine away from the yacht, which guests need the strongest cabins, and whether your budget has room for a motor yacht or larger crew.

From there, we help with:

Availability still matters, but it comes after suitability. The goal is not to find any yacht for your dates. It is to identify the yachts worth considering for your particular group.

Star Ocean Yachts

Rosedale Travel works with Star Ocean Yachts as its preferred charter broker for Croatia. Star Ocean Yachts operates as a full-service yacht brokerage and management company across yacht sales, charter, and management.

That brokerage structure is useful in Croatia because yachts operate from several different bases, including the Split, Trogir, Šibenik, and Dubrovnik areas. A broader brokerage relationship allows us to compare appropriate yachts across the market instead of presenting only one operator’s managed fleet.

The practical value of the relationship is access to better information. Listing photographs can show what a yacht looks like at anchor. They do not tell you how well the crew manages a multi-island route, whether the yacht performs comfortably under way, or how previous guests responded to the service.

Who a Croatia Yacht Charter Is Best For

Croatia works especially well for groups that want their time on the water connected to places with substantial history and active local communities.

It is a strong match for:

  • Families or multigenerational groups celebrating a milestone
  • Couples who want privacy without remaining in one resort
  • Friends who travel well together and want shared time without a fixed tour schedule
  • Travelers who enjoy swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, and life aboard a yacht
  • Groups that want to alternate between quiet anchorages and active harbor towns
  • Guests interested in old towns, vineyards, local restaurants, and historic sites
  • Travelers who value flexibility more than a guaranteed day-by-day schedule
  • Groups comfortable spending part of the week cruising between islands
  • Travelers prepared for a base charter budget beginning around $15,000, plus taxes and operating expenses

Croatia is particularly compelling when your group wants to walk through Split, Hvar, Korčula, or Dubrovnik and still spend a substantial part of the week swimming from the yacht. That combination of time ashore and time at anchor is one of the destination’s strongest advantages.

Six to ten guests is often a comfortable charter group, but there is no requirement to fill every cabin. Couples regularly choose yachts designed for larger groups when they want more space, additional crew, or stronger onboard amenities and the budget supports it.

Who Should Consider Another Destination or Vacation Style

A Croatia yacht charter is not the right answer for every traveler.

If your group wants to include Split, Hvar, Vis, Korčula, Dubrovnik, the Kornati Islands, and every major attraction in one seven-night itinerary, the week will become dominated by movement. A yacht gives you control over your route, but it does not remove the physical distances between regions.

Travelers who want very short island hops with minimal exposed water may find the British Virgin Islands easier. Guests who want scheduled sightseeing from morning to evening may prefer a private land itinerary or small-ship cruise. Travelers who want nightlife every night may be happier staying in Hvar, Split, or Dubrovnik rather than moving between active towns and quiet anchorages.

A resort may also be a better choice when:

  • The lowest possible vacation cost is the main priority
  • Guests are uncomfortable with a flexible itinerary
  • The group prefers constant access to large restaurants, shops, and nightlife
  • Several travelers do not enjoy being on the water
  • The group wants complete certainty about every day’s location
  • Guests expect all yachts at the same price to provide identical cabins and amenities

It is also important to reset the expectation that every Croatian island is quiet and undeveloped. Hvar Town is active and busy during July and August. The quieter experience many travelers imagine comes from choosing particular anchorages, villages, and islands rather than from Croatia as a whole.

What a Crewed Croatia Charter Is Actually Like

A charter gives your group control over the pace, but not unlimited control over weather, marina availability, or safe navigation.

A typical day may begin with breakfast on deck at anchor, followed by swimming, snorkeling, paddleboarding, or kayaking. Lunch can be served aboard or planned around a stop in a smaller harbor town. The afternoon may involve a crossing, another anchorage, a walk ashore, or simply remaining on the yacht.

Evenings usually involve a real choice between dining aboard and going ashore.

A private chef dinner allows the meal to follow your group’s preferences and timing. Dining in Hvar, Vis, or Korčula provides a stronger connection to the destination, but it also means securing a reservation, going ashore, and following the restaurant’s schedule. Most groups prefer a combination rather than choosing one style for the entire week.

The captain remains responsible for safety and comfort. Croatia’s afternoon winds or sea conditions may require changing the order of crossings, selecting another anchorage, or adjusting a planned stop. Guests who expect a fixed cruise-ship itinerary can find that frustrating. Guests who understand the itinerary as a well-planned framework usually adapt much more easily.

Choosing the Right Yacht for Croatia

Sailing Yacht vs. Motor Yacht

A sailing yacht suits travelers who enjoy the journey between islands and do not need to cover the maximum possible distance each day. It works particularly well for round-trip itineraries involving Šolta, Brač, Hvar, the Pakleni Islands, and potentially Vis.

A motor yacht is usually the stronger option when the group wants a one-way Split-to-Dubrovnik itinerary or intends to include longer legs toward Korčula and Mljet. The additional speed can protect time for swimming, dining, and exploring ashore, but it will generally increase both the base charter fee and fuel consumption through the APA.

Neither option is automatically better. The right choice depends on whether your group sees time under way as part of the experience or as time that should be minimized.

Larger Yacht vs. Smaller Yacht

A larger yacht does not only buy additional cabins. It can provide more deck space, greater separation between indoor and outdoor areas, additional crew, stronger stabilization, and a wider selection of amenities.

A smaller crewed yacht can still be the correct choice for a first charter, a couple, or a group of four to six that would rather protect the itinerary budget than pay for space it will not use.

Cabin layout matters as much as headline capacity. A yacht advertised for eight guests may work well for four couples but poorly for a family needing twin beds, connecting cabins, or stronger separation between adults and children. We review the actual arrangement rather than relying only on the stated guest count.

Crewed Yacht vs. Bareboat

Rosedale Travel exclusively arranges fully crewed charters.

A crewed charter includes professional navigation, meal preparation, service, provisioning support, and local operational knowledge. Exact crew composition varies by yacht, so proposals should identify whether the yacht has a separate captain, chef, deck crew, and interior crew or uses a smaller combined team.

Experienced sailors who specifically want to captain the yacht themselves should work with a specialist bareboat operator. That is a different vacation from the fully serviced charter experience Rosedale’s clients are typically seeking.

Amenities and Water Toys

Water toys vary significantly by yacht. Paddleboards, kayaks, snorkeling equipment, tenders, Seabobs, jet skis, inflatable platforms, and e-foils should never be assumed simply because the charter is described as luxury.

We confirm the exact inventory, local operating restrictions, age requirements, and any licence requirements before recommending a yacht. The same applies to onboard gyms, massage spaces, stabilizers, cinema systems, and accessibility features.

Croatia Yacht Charter Destination Guidance

Croatia’s coast should not be treated as one compact charter area. A standard seven-night week usually works best when it concentrates on one route structure rather than trying to combine central, southern, and northern Dalmatia.

Kornati and Šibenik as a Separate Charter

The Kornati region should generally be planned as its own northern Dalmatian charter rather than added to a serious Split-to-Dubrovnik itinerary.

Kornati National Park officially includes 89 islands, islets, and reefs within the larger Kornati archipelago. The region is most naturally approached from Šibenik, Murter, or another northern base and can be paired with the Šibenik area and Krka rather than southern Dalmatia.

This is the better option for travelers who want denser island navigation, a stronger emphasis on time aboard, and less interest in combining the yacht with Dubrovnik.

Round-Trip Split and the Central Dalmatian Islands

The Split area is one of Croatia’s primary charter hubs. Yachts may embark from marinas around Split, Trogir, Kaštela, or nearby bases, with Split Airport providing the most convenient arrival point for many central Dalmatian routes.

A round-trip itinerary can include:

  • Šolta
  • Brač
  • Hvar
  • The Pakleni Islands
  • Vis, when the group accepts a longer cruising leg

This is usually the easier option for first-time charter guests. The yacht returns to the same general area, airport planning is simpler, and the route can be structured around shorter movements than a full one-way itinerary toward Dubrovnik.

It is the stronger choice when the group wants well-known central Dalmatian stops, a mix of quiet and lively evenings, and fewer end-of-charter logistics.

Split to Dubrovnik, One Way

A one-way itinerary continues south through a combination of Hvar, Vis or Korčula, Mljet, and the Dubrovnik area.

This route provides greater geographic variety and a stronger sense of progression. It also creates more open-water cruising and can involve a one-way or repositioning fee because the yacht finishes away from its normal base.

A motor yacht can be particularly valuable on this route when the group wants to protect time ashore. A sailing yacht can still work, but the itinerary must be paced more conservatively.

This structure is best for travelers who are comfortable arriving through one airport and departing through another, or arranging a private ground, air, or helicopter transfer between the two regions.

Which Croatian Islands Fit Your Group?

Hvar

Hvar gives you two different charter experiences within a small area.

Hvar Town has restaurants, bars, historic streets, and an active harbor, particularly in July and August. The nearby Pakleni Islands provide quieter anchorages within tender distance of town.

This combination works well when some guests want an evening ashore while others value returning to a more private anchorage.

Brač

Brač works naturally within a round-trip Split itinerary and is home to Bol and Zlatni Rat. It can provide a social beach stop, a shorter cruising day, or a transition between Split, Hvar, and Šolta.

The island is usually more useful as part of a balanced central route than as the single focus of the week.

Mljet

Mljet is most often included in a southern itinerary toward Dubrovnik. Its national park, pine forest, and saltwater lakes give the route a quieter day between more active old towns.

It is particularly useful for groups that need one deliberately slow day rather than another full program of restaurants and sightseeing.

Korčula

Korčula is a natural stop on many southern itineraries. Its walled old town and narrow streets provide a strong historical component without requiring the yacht to reach Dubrovnik immediately.

Local tradition connects the island with Marco Polo, although the claim that he was born there remains disputed. The island should be selected for its old town, nearby anchorages, vineyards, and position on the southern route rather than for that claim alone.

Vis

Vis is farther from the mainland than the other commonly visited central Dalmatian islands. It served as a Yugoslav military base and remained closed to foreign visitors until 1989, which contributed to its different development pattern and quieter character.

Vis works well for groups interested in coves, local food, vineyards, military tunnels, diving, and a slower island atmosphere.

The Blue Cave on nearby Biševo is visited by official boat rather than by swimming or snorkeling inside the cave. Swimming is prohibited, so it should be presented as a short boat-based natural-site visit, often combined with swimming elsewhere around Vis or Stiniva.

Talk with Rosedale Travel to start to compare sailing yachts, motor yachts, cabin layouts, crews, and yacht-specific amenities for your group.

What Can You Do During a Croatia Yacht Charter?

The itinerary should be built around the activities your group values. Trying to include every available stop usually creates a less satisfying charter.

Historic and Social Stops

Time ashore may include

  • ocletian’s Palace and the old centre of Split
  • Hvar Town and the fortress above the harbor
  • Korčula’s walled old town
  • Dubrovnik’s historic centre at the end of a southern route
  • Bol and Zlatni Rat on Brač
  • Smaller stone villages and harbor towns selected by the captain

The goal is not to visit the maximum number of towns. It is to choose the two or three that best complement the time your group wants aboard.

Water and Adventure

Depending on the route and the yacht’s equipment, your week may include:

  • Swimming and snorkeling from the yacht
  • Paddleboarding and kayaking in protected anchorages
  • Visiting the Blue Cave by authorised local boat
  • Swimming near Stiniva Cove
  • Diving around Vis
  • Exploring Vis’s military tunnels and historic sites
  • Using yacht-specific water toys at suitable anchorages

Motorised water toys are subject to the yacht’s inventory, local regulations, licences, sea conditions, and the captain’s approval.

Food, Wine, and Downtime

Most groups combine onboard dining with selected evenings ashore.

Possible arrangements include:

  • Private chef meals based on the group’s preference sheet
  • Restaurant reservations in Hvar, Vis, Korčula, or smaller harbor towns
  • Local seafood and peka at a konoba
  • Vineyard visits on Hvar or Korčula
  • Tastings of local wines such as Plavac Mali
  • A full low-movement day at anchor
  • Yoga, massage, or wellness requests arranged when the yacht and local availability support them

Yoga instructors, massage therapists, vineyard visits, and private shoreside arrangements are not automatically included in the charter. They should be requested during planning and confirmed separately.

Two Practical Seven-Night Croatia Charter Structures

These examples are planning frameworks, not guaranteed itineraries. The captain may adjust the sequence based on weather, berth availability, and sea conditions.

Option 1: Round-Trip Split

A typical structure may include:

  1. Embark in the Split or Trogir area
  2. First night around Šolta or Brač
  3. Hvar Town or the Pakleni Islands
  4. Vis, including a possible Blue Cave or Stiniva visit
  5. A second day around Vis or a return toward Hvar
  6. Brač or Šolta
  7. Return to the Split-area marina

This option is best for groups that want shorter logistics, central Dalmatian highlights, and a return to the same airport region.

Option 2: Split to Dubrovnik

A typical structure may include:

  1. Embark in the Split area
  2. Hvar or the Pakleni Islands
  3. Vis or Korčula
  4. Continue south toward Korčula
  5. Mljet
  6. Dubrovnik-area anchorage or marina
  7. Disembark near Dubrovnik

This option is best for groups that want a stronger sense of movement, more destination variety, and a different city at the end of the charter.

The route should not attempt to include every major central and southern island. Choosing Vis may affect how much time is available for Korčula. Adding more time in Hvar may reduce time around Mljet. Those are the decisions we help the group make before presenting the final yacht shortlist.

Schedule a consultation to decide whether a round-trip Split week or one-way Dubrovnik charter better matches your group’s pace.

Croatia Yacht Charter Pricing Expectations

Croatia charter proposals normally begin with a weekly base charter fee. That figure is not the complete trip cost.

The base fee generally covers the use of the yacht and its crew. Guests must also budget for the Advance Provisioning Allowance, VAT, discretionary crew gratuity, travel to Croatia, and any one-way, transfer, or shoreside costs.

Base Charter Planning Ranges

The following ranges are useful starting points rather than guaranteed quotes:

  • Entry level, $15,000 to $25,000 per week: Typically a well-maintained crewed sailing catamaran or monohull for approximately four to six guests. This can be a strong first-charter option when costs are shared across a group.
  • Mid-range, $30,000 to $75,000 per week: A broader selection of sailing and motor yachts for approximately six to ten guests, with more space and a wider range of amenities.
  • Luxury, $100,000 and above per week: Newer or larger vessels, expanded crew, stronger onboard facilities, and more options for groups with highly specific requirements.

Rates vary by yacht, charter length, dates, demand, and availability. July and August generally carry the strongest demand, while late May, early to mid-June, and September can provide better value and less pressure on popular marinas.

Advance Provisioning Allowance

The APA is an advance account used to pay the yacht’s operating expenses during the charter, including:

  • Fuel
  • Food
  • Beverages
  • Marina and mooring charges
  • Local cruising expenses
  • Special provisioning requests
  • Certain communications or delivery costs

Many Mediterranean yacht charters quote an APA of approximately 25% to 40% of the base charter fee. The exact percentage depends heavily on the yacht, route, anticipated fuel usage, and level of provisioning. Sailing yachts may sit toward the lower end, while larger motor yachts can require a higher allowance.

The captain accounts for actual spending. Unused funds are returned after the charter, while any overage must be settled before disembarkation.

Croatia VAT

Qualifying multi-day yacht charters beginning in Croatia commonly carry 13% VAT on the charter fee. The exact treatment can depend on the yacht’s licence, embarkation point, itinerary, and time spent in Croatian waters, so the final proposal and charter contract should confirm the applicable amount.

Crew Gratuity

Crew gratuity is discretionary and should reflect the service received. MYBA guidance commonly cited in the yacht-charter industry places Mediterranean gratuities within a range of approximately 5% to 15% of the base charter fee.

Payment arrangements should be confirmed before the charter. It should not be presented as a mandatory cash charge in every case.

What a $30,000 Base Charter May Cost

A $30,000 base charter could require a planning budget similar to:

  • Base charter fee: $30,000
  • APA at 25% to 40%: $7,500 to $12,000
  • VAT at 13%: approximately $3,900
  • Potential gratuity at 5% to 15%: $1,500 to $4,500
  • Possible one-way fee, transfers, flights, and shoreside arrangements: additional

That places the potential charter-related spend at approximately $42,900 to $50,400 before flights, hotels, transfers, or separately arranged experiences.

The purpose of showing this is not to make the charter appear more expensive. It is to prevent a traveler from treating a $30,000 listing as a $30,000 total vacation.

What Is Included and What Costs Extra?

Usually Included in the Base Charter Fee

  • Use of the yacht for the contracted charter period
  • Professional crew stated in the charter agreement
  • Standard yacht equipment
  • Yacht-specific water toys listed in the proposal
  • Crew operating expenses and crew meals
  • Insurance and equipment required for the yacht’s commercial operation

The exact crew and amenity list must be confirmed yacht by yacht.

Usually Paid Through the APA

  • Yacht fuel
  • Tender fuel
  • Food and beverages
  • Marina and mooring charges
  • Local port or cruising expenses
  • Special provisioning
  • Charges associated with requested activities or deliveries

Normally Budgeted Separately

  • Croatia VAT
  • Discretionary crew gratuity
  • One-way or repositioning fees
  • Flights to and from Croatia
  • Pre-charter or post-charter hotels
  • Ground transfers
  • Private aviation or helicopter transfers
  • Restaurant spending ashore
  • Vineyard visits and wine tours
  • Private guides
  • Massage, yoga, or wellness providers
  • Activities not included with the yacht
  • Travel insurance

Rosedale Travel can assist with certain transfer, restaurant, vineyard, and concierge requests through appropriate outside partners. These are arranged based on the trip rather than presented as standard inclusions.

How the Rosedale Travel Planning Process Works

Initial Consultation

01

We begin with a consultation covering:

  • Dates and trip length
  • Group size and relationships
  • Cabin requirements
  • Charter experience
  • Preferred travel pace
  • Sailing comfort
  • Dining preferences
  • Water activities
  • Desired destinations
  • Base and total budget
  • Celebration or special occasion
  • Accessibility, dietary, or medical considerations that affect yacht selection

We will also tell you when Croatia, a yacht charter, or the proposed budget does not match your expectations.

Destination and Route Recommendation

02

Before selecting yachts, we determine whether your group is better suited to:

  • A round-trip Split itinerary
  • A one-way Split-to-Dubrovnik itinerary
  • A northern Dalmatian and Kornati itinerary
  • Another Mediterranean or Caribbean destination

This protects the group from choosing a yacht first and forcing it into an unsuitable route.

Yacht and Crew Shortlist

We present a focused selection of yachts that fit the route, group, cabin needs, and budget.

03

Each recommendation should explain:

  • Why the yacht fits
  • Where it may require compromise
  • Cabin arrangement
  • Crew structure
  • Indoor and outdoor spaces
  • Cruising style
  • Water toys and amenities
  • Base rate
  • APA
  • VAT
  • Known one-way fees
  • Estimated total charter budget

Refinement and Contracting

04

Once you provide feedback, we compare the strongest remaining options, request availability, review the charter terms, and proceed with contracting and deposits.

Pre-Charter Planning and Support

05

After booking, we help coordinate preference sheets, provisioning, itinerary priorities, arrival arrangements, and special requests.

We remain available through the trip if weather, logistics, or another issue requires the plan to change.

Rosedale Travel Planning Fees

We are currently not charging planning fees for yacht charters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need a visa to charter a yacht in Croatia?

Entry requirements depend on your nationality and passport. Croatia has participated fully in the Schengen Area since January 1, 2023, and many visa-exempt travelers may visit the Schengen Area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

ETIAS is scheduled to begin operating in the last quarter of 2026, but the European Union has not yet announced the exact start date. Travelers should not apply through unofficial websites, and the official EU site currently states that no action is required until the system begins operating.

Should we choose a round-trip Split charter or finish in Dubrovnik?

Choose round-trip Split when you want simpler flight logistics, central Dalmatian islands, and comparatively shorter movements.

Choose a one-way Dubrovnik itinerary when the group wants Korčula, Mljet, greater route variety, and a different departure city, and is comfortable with more cruising and a possible one-way fee.

Can we visit Split, Hvar, Vis, Korčula, Dubrovnik, and the Kornati Islands in one week?

Not comfortably.

The central islands, southern Dalmatia, and Kornati represent different route priorities. Combining all of them in seven nights would result in more movement and less time swimming, dining, and exploring ashore. A better plan is to choose one region and save the others for another charter.

Is a motor yacht or sailing yacht better in Croatia?

A sailing yacht usually works best for a slower central Dalmatian itinerary where time under sail is part of the experience.

A motor yacht is often better for a one-way itinerary toward Dubrovnik or a group that wants to include longer legs while protecting time at anchor. The decision should consider fuel cost, cruising speed, group comfort, and budget.

What does a Croatia charter actually cost after fees?

In addition to the base charter fee, budget for APA, applicable VAT, discretionary gratuity, and any one-way or transfer expenses.

A $30,000 base charter may produce a charter-related total in the low-to-mid $40,000s or higher, depending on fuel usage, provisioning, gratuity, and route.

When is the best time to charter in Croatia?

July and August provide peak summer conditions but also the greatest demand around Split and Hvar.

Late May, early to mid-June, and September can provide a better balance of weather, availability, and cost for groups that do not need to travel during school-holiday dates.

Can we swim inside the Blue Cave?

No. The Blue Cave is entered by authorised local boat, and swimming inside is prohibited.

Your captain can combine the visit with swimming or snorkeling at another location around Vis or Biševo when sea conditions and the itinerary allow it.

Is a large yacht unnecessary for a couple?

Not necessarily.

A couple may choose a larger yacht for additional space, stronger crew service, stabilizers, amenities, or more comfortable outdoor areas. The decision should be based on the experience desired rather than the number of empty cabins.

Why should we use an advisor instead of booking directly?

A direct booking can reserve an available yacht. It does not necessarily tell you whether that yacht has the right crew, cabin layout, cruising profile, amenities, or route capability for your group.

An advisor also helps you interpret APA, tax, gratuity, contracts, one-way charges, and total cost before you commit. The most expensive charter mistake is rarely paying slightly more for the right yacht. It is spending a substantial amount on the wrong one.
