Bahamas Yacht Charter Specialist

A crewed Bahamas yacht charter works best for travelers who value privacy, flexibility, and personalized service more than the fixed schedule of a traditional resort vacation.

The difficult decision is rarely whether a yacht is available. It is determining which cruising area, yacht, crew, cabin configuration, and budget will create the experience your group actually wants.

The Bahamas includes more than 700 islands and approximately 2,400 cays. A seven-night charter cannot cover all of them, nor should it try. A well-planned week normally focuses on one primary cruising area, such as the Exumas or the Abacos, rather than rushing between destinations that sit in different directions from Nassau.

I recently had the experience of my daughter’s high school graduation trip to Croatia planned by Rachel Baumgartner. It was amazing!! We had another family along with us and Rachel took so much time learning what was important to us, researching extensively the best fit for us regarding hotels, transfers, restaurants, excursions and more! The entire trip was seamless!! And during the trip she checked in on us and was quick to respond with any questions we had. I highly recommend Rachel and Rosedale Travel!!!

Laura Spagnolo recently (fall 2025) planned an absolutely unforgettable group trip to Argentina. I travel frequently and this is the first trip I did not have to do or think about a single piece of the itinerary. I took my 12 yr old son, along with a few other families, on a planned group trip to Buenos Aires and iguazu falls. Starting with the preparation for the visit and Everything from city excursions, to soccer matches and stadium tours, to art centers, dinners out, fantastic hotels, experiencing the falls, and the ease with transfers and domestic flights ...it could NOT have been better. I will not plan trips without Rosedale travel from now on!! Thank you!

Rosedale travel was able to hook me up with a last minute excellent trip to Iceland. Kirsten worked with me to make sure everything we wanted to do got done, and even suggested some things I’d never heard of which I'm glad we did! I’ll be using Rosedale travel again in the near future!

Five stars aren't enough for Rachel! She delivered the most amazing and stress-free adventure for our son's 30th birthday trip to Moab! She helped with flights and booked a fantastic place to stay, but the lineup of incredible adventures she put together was the highlight. Our adventure loving son had a blast! Before we left, a physical folder with all our documents was delivered, and every detail was also available on a convenient app. Rachel was available for all our questions during planning and checked in with us during and after our trip! I will be using her services again and recommending her to everyone I know.

Not only is Rachel Baumgartner the best travel advisor I've ever had the pleasure of working with, but she is also one of the best individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working with. From start to finish, there is not a single thing she missed. She went above and beyond on everything possible and exceeded my expectations. She helped me plan my bachelorette, my fiance's bachelor party, and our honeymoon. I cannot recommend Rachel enough to anyone looking to plan travel. I am forever grateful to her for helping me to plan the trip of my dreams!

Kirsten at Rosedale planned our family trip to Greece. It was our first time using a travel agent but definitely won't be our last! Kirsten made the trip to easy and stress free! She listened to all our "wants" and built the perfect vacation for our family of 5. The excursions she booked were amazing - both were great companies to explore Greece with and we learned so much from our guides. The hotels and resorts she booked for us were beautiful properites and the extra perks (like welcome baskets and food vouchers) that we got from booking with Kirsten were a wonderful bonus! Don't hesitate to use Kirsten to design your next vacation - you will be so glad you did!

Kirstin was amazing! My sister and I had 17 tabs open trying to figure out connecting flights and/or trains in Europe to no avail! I reached out to her for the first time hoping that she could somehow solve this mystery and she did just that! She made it all work seamlessly. Going forward, I will never NOT travel without first consulting her. She had tips, ideas, suggestions, and solutions! She was easy to communicate with, affable, responsive to our desires and vision and followed through on everything she said. She asked for feedback afterwards, and I shared the one thing I wished had happened. I wish we had gotten the itinerary in paper prior to departure. She and I miscommunicated about that as I had handled all stateside flights prior to international flights so she didn't know our actual date of departure. Highly recommend.

KIrsten Billhardt of Rosedale Travel did a fabulous job of planning and organizing our first trip to Scandinavia; she even figured out a way to work in a side trip to northern Germany within a 11-day (including flights) timeframe! It's been five months since we went, and we're still raving about the variety of experiences including outdoor excursions, city explorations, historical site and special attraction visits, different transportation modes, and delicious food (we loved the huge hotel breakfast buffets). We highly recommend working with Kirsten!

Rosedale knows the secret sauce of memorable travel.

As your Bahamas Luxury Yacht Charter Specialist, Rosedale Travel helps you decide:

Two yachts with similar weekly prices can deliver completely different experiences. The crew, cabin layout, yacht condition, draft, water toys, dining style, and familiarity with Bahamian waters matter just as much as the vessel’s size.

Schedule a consultation with Rosedale Travel to start to compare Bahamas yacht options for your dates, group, and realistic total budget.

Why Work With Rosedale Travel for a Bahamas Yacht Charter?

Online charter platforms are useful for seeing what exists, but they rarely explain what the yacht will actually feel like once your group is aboard.

A listing may show attractive cabins, a large aft deck, and a collection of water toys. It will not necessarily tell you whether the cabin arrangement works for two families, whether the crew’s service style matches your group, or whether the yacht is particularly well suited to the shallow cruising grounds of the Exumas.

Rosedale Travel approaches the process as a matching decision rather than an availability search.

Destination Matching

Clients often begin by comparing yachts before deciding which part of the Bahamas fits the vacation they want.

A family wanting calm water, daily swimming, and short moves between cays may be happiest in the Exumas. A group wanting colonial settlements, protected sailing, and a more traditional island-hopping route may prefer the Abacos. Guests primarily interested in diving may find Andros more rewarding than a standard sandbar-focused itinerary.

The destination decision affects the yacht decision, which is why we address both before recommending specific vessels.

Yacht and Crew Matching

Two sailing catamarans priced within a few thousand dollars of each other may have different cabin layouts, crew experience, onboard amenities, and standards of service.

One may suit a family with children because of its deck arrangement and water access. Another may be better for couples who prioritize dining, quiet spaces, and a more adult onboard atmosphere.

Crew knowledge also matters in the Bahamas. Shallow banks, reef-strewn cuts, tides, and changing conditions require practical local judgment. We consider how a crew operates in the region, not simply how the yacht appears in its listing.

Realistic Budget Guidance

The advertised weekly rate is not always the final trip cost.

Some crewed catamarans use an all-inclusive structure. Larger motor yachts and superyachts commonly use a base charter rate plus an Advance Provisioning Allowance, or APA. Taxes, cruising permits, park charges, marina nights, gratuities, premium provisions, and shoreside arrangements may also sit outside the base rate.

We explain the cost structure before you commit so that you are comparing complete financial expectations rather than headline prices.

Route and Itinerary Planning

A charter itinerary remains flexible, but it still needs a practical structure.

We help determine whether your group should remain entirely within the Exumas, use Marsh Harbour as the gateway to the Abacos, or build a separate itinerary around Eleuthera and Harbour Island. We also explain when adding another region would improve the trip and when it would simply add unnecessary travel time.

The captain will make final navigational decisions based on weather, tide, and safety. Our role is to begin with a plan that is realistic enough to adapt without losing the experiences that matter most to your group.

Support Before and During the Charter

Rosedale Travel assists with the details that influence how smoothly the week operates, including:

  • Cabin and guest configuration
  • Food and beverage preferences
  • Dietary requirements
  • Celebration requests
  • Water activity priorities
  • Arrival and departure planning
  • Shoreside restaurant requests
  • Private aviation coordination through an outside partner, when required
  • Reviewing inclusions, APA, and additional charges
  • Support when weather or operational conditions require a change

Star Ocean Yachts Partner Benefits

Star Ocean Yachts works across yacht owners, managers, and charter fleets rather than limiting recommendations to a single operator’s inventory. This gives Rosedale access to a broader selection of Bahamas charter options and additional professional insight into specific vessels and crews.

This relationship helps us look beyond the listing by considering:

Virtuoso amenities and preferred-partner benefits vary by yacht, charter arrangement, and travel dates. We confirm any applicable benefits during the proposal process rather than presenting them as guaranteed additions.

The purpose of these partnerships is not simply gaining access to more inventory. It is improving the quality of the recommendation before a client commits to a substantial purchase.

Who a Bahamas Luxury Yacht Charter Is Best For

A Bahamas crewed charter works exceptionally well for travelers who want the vacation to adjust around their group rather than requiring the group to follow a resort schedule.

It is particularly well suited to:

01

Families celebrating a birthday, anniversary, graduation, or other milestone

02

Multi-generational groups wanting private time together

03

Couples who value privacy and personalized service

04

Friends comfortable sharing a yacht for several days

05

Travelers who enjoy swimming, snorkeling, paddleboarding, and life on the water

06

Groups who want a private chef and meals planned around their preferences

07

Guests who prefer changing anchorages rather than staying in one location

08

Travelers comfortable allowing weather and tides to influence the daily plan

09

Groups with enough budget flexibility to choose for fit rather than price alone

The Bahamas is especially strong for guests who picture calm anchorages, sandbars, shallow-water swimming, and relatively short moves between cays.

A typical group size is six to ten guests, although couples frequently charter larger yachts when they want more cabin space, a larger crew, or additional amenities.

Who Should Consider Another Vacation

A yacht charter is not automatically the best choice simply because the budget allows it.

We may recommend another destination or another style of vacation when the group’s expectations do not match how a Bahamas charter actually works.

Consider a resort, cruise, or different charter destination when:

The Bahamas is defined largely by shallow banks, protected water, cays, and flexible island-hopping. Travelers wanting stronger open-water sailing conditions and more frequent historical sightseeing may prefer Greece or Croatia.

Guests wanting constant entertainment, extensive resort facilities, or a large selection of restaurants every night may be more comfortable at a private resort in Nassau, Paradise Island, or another Caribbean destination.

What a Bahamas Crewed Yacht Charter Is Actually Like

he main difference between a charter and a resort is not simply privacy. It is control over the pace of the day.

A typical morning may begin with breakfast on deck while anchored near a cay or sandbar. The group might spend the late morning snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking, swimming, or using the yacht’s water toys before moving to another anchorage.

Lunch may be prepared by the private chef or taken ashore when the route passes a suitable settlement or restaurant. In areas such as the northern Exumas, Staniel Cay is often used as a casual shoreside stop.

Evenings depend on where the yacht is positioned.

Near Nassau, Harbour Island, or Marsh Harbour, the group may have access to a broader selection of restaurants and bars. Further inside the Exumas, the settlements become smaller and quieter, making dinner prepared by the yacht’s chef the more practical and often more enjoyable option.

Most groups prefer a combination of private dining aboard and selected meals ashore.

Flexibility Does Not Mean the Absence of Planning

A charter route should be thoughtfully planned, but it cannot operate like a fixed cruise ship itinerary.

Bahamian waters are shallow and tide-dependent. Wind, visibility, sea conditions, and the timing of particular cuts can influence when the captain moves the yacht or visits a specific cay.

The captain’s first responsibility is safety and comfort, not following a printed itinerary in the original order.

Travelers who understand this usually appreciate the flexibility. Guests expecting every stop to occur at a fixed hour may find the experience frustrating, even when the captain’s decision improves the overall week.

Choosing the Right Yacht for the Bahamas

The correct yacht depends on where you plan to cruise, how quickly you want to move, how your group uses its time, and how the charter is priced.

Sailing Catamaran vs. Motor Yacht

Sailing Catamaran

A sailing catamaran is the most natural fit for many Bahamas charters, particularly in the Exumas.

Its shallower draft is useful in sandbar-heavy cruising grounds, while the wide beam generally provides good shared deck space for groups spending much of the day swimming, relaxing, and using water toys.

A sailing catamaran usually suits travelers who prioritize:

Motor Yacht

A motor yacht makes more sense when the group values speed, additional interior volume, more crew, or the ability to cover greater distances within a dedicated cruising area.

It may suit travelers who prioritize:

A motor yacht does not make every ambitious itinerary realistic. Even with greater speed, combining the Exumas, Harbour Island, and the Abacos inside one standard week can create a rushed trip.

Crewed Charter vs. Bareboat Charter

Rosedale Travel books fully crewed charters.

A professional captain manages navigation and vessel operation, while the chef and crew handle meals, service, housekeeping, and onboard guest support. This is the experience most Rosedale clients are seeking.

A crewed charter is also the more practical choice for guests who do not have extensive experience navigating shallow Bahamian waters.

Travelers specifically wanting a self-skippered sailing vacation should work with a qualified bareboat specialist. Rosedale will recommend that route honestly rather than trying to convert a self-sailing request into a crewed charter.

Larger Yacht vs. Smaller Yacht

A larger yacht does not necessarily mean bringing more guests.

Couples and small groups regularly charter yachts designed for eight or ten guests because they want more space, a fuller crew, larger exterior areas, or specific amenities.

A smaller crewed catamaran can still be the better choice when:

Matching matters more than size. Paying for additional length provides little value if the yacht’s cabin configuration, crew style, or operating model does not match how your group intends to travel.

Talk with Rosedale Travel to determine whether a sailing catamaran or motor yacht, and what vessel size, best matches your group’s pace and budget.

Choosing the Right Bahamas Charter Destination

Different parts of the Bahamas create noticeably different charter experiences.

The Exumas are not interchangeable with the Abacos. Harbour Island should not simply be added to an Exumas itinerary because it appears close on a map. Andros suits a specific diving-focused traveler rather than every first-time charter group.

Nassau

Most Bahamas charters use Nassau as a practical gateway.

Nassau sits on New Providence and offers the country’s strongest concentration of air access, marinas, hotels, restaurants, and charter infrastructure. It is often used for arrival, provisioning, embarkation, and the final night before departure.

Most Exumas-focused charter clients do not spend the entire week around Nassau. They generally use it as a starting point before moving toward quieter water.

Nassau and Paradise Island are developed destinations with resorts and cruise traffic. Travelers should not expect the same privacy here that they will experience at anchor further inside the Exumas.

The Exumas

The Exumas are the most common choice for a first Bahamas yacht charter.

The island chain includes 365 cays and runs roughly 120 nautical miles from north to south. A standard seven-night charter will not cover the full chain, so the route should be designed around a manageable section.

An Exumas itinerary may include areas such as:

  • Highbourne Cay
  • Allen’s Cay
  • Shroud Cay
  • The Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park
  • Staniel Cay
  • Big Major Cay
  • Compass Cay
  • Thunderball Grotto

The Exumas suit travelers who want shallow protected water, frequent swimming, sandbars, snorkeling, and relatively short moves between stops.

The Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park is a protected no-take area. Fishing, shelling, conching, and removing marine life are prohibited inside the park, and anchoring or mooring charges may apply.

Eleuthera

Eleuthera is a long, narrow island with smaller settlements, pink and white sand beaches, and a noticeably slower pace than Nassau.

Governor’s Harbour and the Glass Window Bridge are among the better-known stops. Eleuthera generally receives less charter traffic than the Exumas and may suit travelers who want a stronger balance between time aboard and quiet exploration ashore.

It works best as the focus of a deliberate route rather than an automatic addition to an already full Exumas itinerary.

Harbour Island

Harbour Island sits near the northern end of Eleuthera and is most associated with Pink Sands Beach and Dunmore Town.

Visitors commonly use golf carts to move around the island, although other transportation is available. Dunmore Town provides a stronger restaurant and social component than the smaller settlements found further south in the Exumas.

Harbour Island suits groups wanting a mix of:

  • Beach time
  • Restaurants and social activity
  • Colonial architecture
  • Time aboard the yacht
  • A more developed island stop

It can create a useful contrast to quieter days at anchor, but it should be built into the route deliberately rather than treated as a quick side trip from the central Exumas.

The Abacos

The Abacos form a separate cruising region in the northern Bahamas.

Most Abacos charters use Marsh Harbour as their gateway rather than Nassau. The protected Sea of Abaco, closely spaced islands, and harbor towns make the region particularly appealing to families and guests who want a traditional island-hopping experience.

Possible stops include Hope Town on Elbow Cay, known for its candy-striped lighthouse, along with other settlements and protected anchorages throughout the Sea of Abaco.

The Abacos are generally better planned as their own seven-night charter rather than combined with an Exumas-focused week.

Andros

Andros is the largest island in the Bahamas by landmass and is home to the Andros Barrier Reef, commonly described as the world’s third-largest fringing barrier reef.

This destination suits travelers with a specific interest in diving, reef structure, fishing, and less-developed island environments.

Andros is not usually the first recommendation for a group primarily picturing Exumas sandbars, swimming pigs, and short cay-to-cay cruising. It is better considered when diving is central to the purpose of the trip.

Which Bahamas Destination Fits Your Group?

Choose the Exumas when your priority is sandbars, swimming, snorkeling, protected water, and a relaxed pace.

Choose the Abacos when your group wants protected sailing combined with harbor towns and more frequent island stops.

Choose Eleuthera and Harbour Island when you want beaches, restaurants, settlements, and time ashore to play a larger role.

Choose Andros when diving and reef exploration matter more than following a standard first-time Bahamas itinerary.

Schedule a consultation to determine which Bahamas cruising area should anchor your charter before comparing specific yachts.

Activities During a Bahamas Yacht Charter

The most effective itineraries balance onboard activities with destination exploration.

A group cannot spend an entire morning using Seabobs at a remote anchorage and simultaneously explore Dunmore Town or Hope Town. Priorities need to be discussed before the route is finalized.

Water and Adventure Activities

Depending on the yacht, route, conditions, and guest ability, activities may include:

Water toys vary by yacht. Seabobs, wakeboards, inflatables, fishing equipment, diving equipment, and personal watercraft should never be assumed from the yacht’s general category. We verify the inventory of the specific vessel before booking.

Beach and Shoreside Stops

A route may also include:

Some stops require a tender rather than docking the yacht directly. Conditions and local restrictions may also affect access.

Dining and Relaxation

Time aboard may be built around:

Private yoga, massage services, specialty dining, and shoreside arrangemaents are not automatic inclusions. They must be confirmed and may involve an outside provider and additional charges.

How a Typical Bahamas Yacht Charter Route Works

Most Bahamas charters should follow one primary direction rather than attempting to cover every major island group.

Nassau and the Exumas

A standard Exumas-focused charter may begin at a Nassau marina before crossing south toward Highbourne Cay.

From there, the yacht can move through selected northern and central Exumas stops, potentially including Allen’s Cay, Shroud Cay, the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, Staniel Cay, Big Major Cay, and Compass Cay.

The precise order will depend on:

  • Charter length
  • Yacht speed and draft
  • Weather
  • Tide
  • Guest priorities
  • Preferred activity level
  • Embarkation and disembarkation points

The route normally turns north in enough time to return comfortably to Nassau. It should not be planned around reaching the furthest possible point before racing back.

Exumas vs. Multi-Region Island-Hopping

Some groups are better served by remaining entirely within the Exumas.

This provides more time at anchor, more time using water toys, and fewer long crossings. It also allows the captain to adjust the sequence without placing the final return under unnecessary pressure.

Other groups value contrast enough to justify a separate Eleuthera, Harbour Island, or Abacos route. That may require a different embarkation point, a repositioning flight, a longer charter, or dividing the trip into separate land and yacht components.

Neither option is automatically better. The correct choice depends on whether the group values depth within one cruising ground or variety across multiple regions.

Talk with Rosedale Travel to compare an Exumas-focused week with a dedicated Eleuthera, Harbour Island, or Abacos itinerary.

Bahamas Yacht Charter Pricing Expectations

Bahamas yacht charter pricing cannot be evaluated from the weekly base rate alone.

The total depends on:

  • Yacht type and size
  • Charter dates
  • Number of nights
  • Guest count
  • Crew level
  • Onboard amenities
  • All-inclusive or plus-expenses contract structure
  • Fuel consumption
  • Food and beverage preferences
  • Marina use
  • Cruising and charter fees
  • Park and anchorage charges
  • Taxes
  • Crew gratuity

The following figures should be treated as initial planning ranges rather than guaranteed all-in quotations.

Entry-Level Crewed Charters: Approximately $15,000 to $25,000 Per Week

This category may include selected crewed sailing catamarans for approximately four to six guests.

Availability within this range can be limited, particularly during peak dates. The yacht may be older, smaller, less amenity-heavy, or available under a contract with additional expenses outside the advertised rate.

This can still be an appropriate first-charter option when the vessel, crew, and itinerary match the group.

Mid-Range Charters: Approximately $30,000 to $75,000 Per Week

This range generally provides a broader selection of crewed catamarans, sailing yachts, and some motor yacht options.

Groups of approximately six to ten guests may find stronger cabin layouts, more outdoor space, additional water toys, and a wider choice of crew styles within this category.

The total cost can rise above the weekly rate when APA, taxes, gratuity, permits, marina nights, or premium requests are additional.

Luxury Charters: $100,000 Per Week and Above

This category includes larger motor yachts, newer vessels, fuller crews, more substantial interiors, and more extensive amenities.

The base rate is only the starting point for many yachts in this category. APA and other charges may materially increase the total required budget.

A yacht priced above $100,000 is not automatically the right recommendation for a milestone trip or first charter. We focus on whether the additional space, crew, speed, and amenities will meaningfully improve the experience for your group.

All-Inclusive vs. APA Pricing

Many crewed sailing catamarans in the Caribbean use an all-inclusive or largely inclusive model.

Depending on the contract, the rate may include:

  • Yacht and crew
  • Meals
  • Standard beverages
  • Fuel for normal cruising
  • Standard water toys
  • Basic operating costs

Larger motor yachts and superyachts commonly use a plus-expenses structure.

The base charter fee generally covers the use of the yacht and crew. An Advance Provisioning Allowance is paid before departure and used by the captain for variable expenses such as:

  • Food and beverages
  • Fuel
  • Dockage
  • Port and cruising charges
  • Guest-requested provisions
  • Local operating expenses

APA is commonly calculated as a percentage of the base charter rate. The exact amount appears in the charter agreement. Any unused balance is normally returned after the captain provides the final accounting, while spending above the allowance must be settled by the charterer.

We confirm which model applies to every recommended yacht. A lower base rate can produce a higher final cost when the additional expense structure is not understood.

Getting an Accurate Bahamas Charter Quote

A useful quote requires more than travel dates.

Before preparing a shortlist, we need to understand:

  • Number of adults and children
  • Preferred cabin arrangement
  • Total working budget
  • Desired yacht type
  • Preferred Bahamas region
  • Food and beverage expectations
  • Water activity priorities
  • Required amenities
  • Celebration or special requests
  • Whether the budget figure is for the base rate or the total trip

Request a personalized Bahamas yacht charter quote based on your group, route, and complete budget rather than an advertised weekly rate.

What May Be Included

Inclusions vary by yacht and charter contract.

An all-inclusive crewed charter may include:

  • The yacht
  • Professional captain
  • Chef and crew
  • Meals aboard
  • Standard beverages
  • Normal cruising fuel
  • Paddleboards
  • Kayaks
  • Snorkeling equipment
  • Standard onboard water toys

Every yacht carries a different selection of equipment. Wakeboards, Seabobs, inflatables, fishing equipment, diving equipment, beach setups, and wellness services must be verified individually.

What May Cost Extra

Depending on the yacht and contract, additional costs may include:

  • APA
  • Crew gratuity
  • Bahamas charter taxes and fees
  • Cruising and vessel permits
  • Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park charges
  • Anchorage or mooring fees
  • Marina and dockage charges
  • Premium wines, spirits, or specialty provisions
  • Off-yacht dining
  • Private guides or instructors
  • Diving services
  • Massage or yoga providers
  • Shoreside transportation
  • Private aviation
  • Hotel nights before or after the charter
  • Concierge arrangements

Private aviation into Nassau or an Out Islands airport is not a standard Rosedale Travel service. When required, Rosedale can help coordinate the request with an outside partner.

Shoreside dining and concierge requests in Nassau or Harbour Island may also be coordinated through an outside partner when appropriate.

The Rosedale Travel Planning Process

Complimentary Introductory Consultation

01

The process begins with a 30-minute call to discuss your group, dates, budget, destination ideas, travel pace, and previous charter experience.

We will tell you honestly whether the Bahamas fits what you are looking for. We may also recommend another region or another vacation format when it would provide a better result.

Planning Engagement

02

After the initial call, applicable planning fees are paid before the first researched proposal is prepared.

We are currently not charging planning fees for yacht charters.

Yacht and Route Proposal

03

You receive a focused selection of yachts that fit your group rather than a long list of whatever happens to be available.

The proposal may include:

  • Recommended yachts
  • Cabin arrangements
  • Crew considerations
  • Charter structure
  • Preliminary route guidance
  • Expected inclusions
  • Known additional costs
  • Advisor commentary on the strengths and trade-offs of each option

Refinement and Booking

04

We refine the recommendations based on your feedback, confirm availability, review the charter structure, and assist with the booking process.

The lowest-priced yacht is not automatically prioritized. The objective is to avoid selecting a vessel that looks appropriate online but does not fit your group in practice.

Pre-Departure Planning

05

Before departure, we assist with relevant planning details such as:

  • Guest and cabin information
  • Food preferences
  • Dietary restrictions
  • Beverage requests
  • Activities
  • Celebrations
  • Arrival logistics
  • Shoreside requests
  • Required documentation

Travel Support

06

Rosedale Travel remains available through the charter when plans require adjustment or support.

The captain controls operational and navigational decisions aboard the yacht. Rosedale’s role is to support the broader travel arrangement and help resolve issues that fall within the planning relationship.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do We Need Passports for a Bahamas Yacht Charter?

U.S. citizens generally need a valid U.S. passport and proof of anticipated departure when traveling to the Bahamas.

Entry requirements vary by nationality, residency, method of arrival, and individual circumstances. Every guest should confirm the requirements that apply to them before travel rather than relying on another passenger’s documentation.

The yacht’s captain or operator handles vessel clearance through the appropriate Bahamas Customs and Immigration procedures.

What Is a Bahamas Cruising Permit?

A cruising permit allows an eligible foreign vessel to enter and cruise in Bahamian waters.

The yacht’s owner, operator, captain, or charter agent normally manages the vessel documentation and clearance process. Guests are not generally expected to apply for the yacht’s permit themselves.

Cruising, charter, anchorage, marina, customs, and related government charges may vary by vessel size, registration, use, and current regulation. We identify how these charges appear in the quotation or charter agreement.

Should We Choose a Sailing Catamaran or Motor Yacht?

Choose a sailing catamaran when your priority is the Exumas, shallow water, sandbars, swimming, shared deck space, and a relaxed pace.

Choose a motor yacht when speed, interior volume, additional crew, and higher onboard amenity levels matter more.

The correct recommendation also depends on draft, cabin configuration, total budget, and the exact route.

How Far Ahead Should We Book?

For the widest selection of yachts and crews during the December through April peak period, planning six to twelve months ahead is sensible.

Holiday weeks and school-break periods may require earlier planning. Shoulder-season dates can sometimes be arranged closer to departure, although specific yachts and strong crews may already be committed.

Can We Visit the Exumas, Harbour Island, and the Abacos in One Week?

Not comfortably in a standard seven-night charter.

These areas sit in different directions and operate as separate cruising grounds. Attempting to include all three generally creates more transit and less meaningful time at each destination.

Most first-time Bahamas charters focus on the Exumas. Harbour Island, Eleuthera, and the Abacos can be planned as separate routes, longer charters, or future trips.

Is a Large Yacht Excessive for Two Guests?

Not necessarily.

Couples charter larger yachts when they value additional space, privacy, crew, speed, amenities, or a particular vessel. The decision depends more on budget and preferred experience than on using every available cabin.

What Is APA?

APA stands for Advance Provisioning Allowance.

It is an amount paid in advance on plus-expenses charters and managed by the captain for variable charter costs. These may include food, beverages, fuel, dockage, permits, and guest-specific provisions.

The captain provides an accounting after the charter. Unused funds are normally returned, while expenses above the allowance must be settled.

Is Crew Gratuity Included?

Crew gratuity is generally additional unless the specific agreement states otherwise.

The appropriate amount and payment method should be confirmed using the charter agreement and broker guidance rather than assumed from another yacht or destination.

What Happens if Weather Changes the Route?

The captain may adjust the order of stops, anchorage, departure time, or route based on wind, tide, sea conditions, and guest comfort.

This is a normal part of chartering rather than a failure of planning. A strong initial route provides enough flexibility for the captain to protect the quality of the week while making safe decisions.

Why Work With an Advisor Instead of Booking Directly?

Because yacht selection is not only a transaction.

Two similarly priced yachts may differ considerably in crew quality, cabin arrangement, condition, amenities, service style, and regional suitability. Those differences are difficult to evaluate from listing photographs alone.

Rosedale Travel helps you compare the complete experience, understand the contract and costs, choose a realistic route, and avoid an expensive mismatch between the yacht and the group.
